Aer Lingus Dublin To Chicago

Do I Need A Visa To Visit Dublin

TRIP REPORT | Aer Lingus Economy | Dublin (DUB) to Chicago (ORD) | Airbus A330-300

Whether you need a visa to enter Ireland depends on your citizenship. If you’re a citizen of a European Economic Area member state and many other countries including Great Britain, the USA, Australia, Canada and New Zealand, you don’t need a visa to visit the Republic or Northern Ireland. South African visitors can visit the Republic of Ireland without a visa, but need a UK visa in order to enter Northern Ireland. Check out the full requirements on the Tourism Ireland website.

Aer Lingus Announces Three New Sun Holiday Routes From Dublin Airport For 2023

Aer Lingus has unveiled its summer schedule for 2023, including new routes from Dublin Airport to Kos in Greece, Olbia in Sardinia and Brindisi in Puglia.

“Demand for European sun destinations is at an all-time high post-pandemic,” said Susanne Carberry, the airlines Chief Customer Officer.

The summer schedule, which will start taking off from late March, will see Aer Lingus fly to 53 European destinations, marking an 18pc increase on its short-haul leisure capacity.

Its biggest ever summer schedule will also see 2.25 million seats to North America and 20pc more seats from Ireland when compared to 2019, the airline says.

Next summer, Aer Lingus will operate 15 routes from Ireland, with a new service to Cleveland, Ohio commencing in May and the return of Hartford, Connecticut in March.

Routes to Boston, New York JFK, Chicago and Washington D.C. will operate double-daily from Dublin Airport during the peak summer season.

Its Dublin Airport to Seattle flight will become daily, Orlando moves to five times weekly, and a larger Airbus A330 will operate the LA service next year.

Aer Lingus will also operate two direct transatlantic routes from Manchester to JFK and Orlando.

A stunning bounce back in demand this year saw airlines, airports and ground handlers around the world struggle to keep pace with consumer travel.

Flights from Cork Airport to Faro in Portugals Algarve will double to six per week.

Aer Lingus Adds Back Service To Three More Us Cities

The airline is also increasing frequencies on existing routes from Dublin to both Chicago OHare and Washington Dulles.

Aer Lingus is ramping up transatlantic flying by resuming three more routes to the US during its summer season schedule.

The Irish carrier will restart flights from Dublin to Philadelphia from April 7 with 6X-weekly service, rising to daily in May. Aer Lingus will restore daily service on the DUB-Los Angeles route from May 12 and 5X-weekly service on the DUB-Seattle route from July 7.

The PHI route will be flown with an Airbus A321LR, while A330s will be deployed on the LAX and SEA services.

Aer Lingus will also start a second daily flight between DUB and Washington Dulles from June 9, marking the first time Aer Lingus has operated 2X-daily service to IAD. Chicago OHare will see a second frequency, to be operated 5X-weekly, to complement current daily service on the route from DUB.

Aer Lingus noted that it will be the only airline providing nonstop service between Ireland and the US west coast with its flights to LAX, San Francisco and SEA.

In March, the airline restarted daily service from Shannon in Ireland to Boston and New York Kennedy . Both routes are being operated with A321LR aircraft.

The airline also plans to resume service between Dublin and Miami in October 2022.

Where Aer Lingus’ Us Passengers Go

Aer Lingus 124 To Dublin

The most recent data to which I have access is for July 2022. Consequently, for better insight, I’ve decided to look at where Aer Lingus US passengers go by visiting data from 2019.

According to the US Department of Transportation, Aer Lingus carried about 2.4 million roundtrip US passengers in 2019. It had 2.8 million seats for sale, meaning an average seat load factor of 85%. This hides much monthly variation. In June, its SLF was 95%, while it was just 67% in February.

Relating DOT information to booking data reveals where passengers went:

  • About 1.1 million were point-to-point
  • An estimated 951,000 transited Dublin/Shannon onto other Aer Lingus flights
  • Approximately 271,000 traveled to/from Dublin/Shannon and connected in the US to other flights
  • Around 110,000 ‘bridged’
