Sneaker Hunting Inspires The Story Of The Air Jordan 1 Lost & Found

The last time we saw the Air Jordan 1 Chicago get retroed from Jordan Brand was in 2015 and looks like 7 years later, the iconic colorway returns to the Air Jordan 1 with a twist in 2022.
The shape of the upcoming sneaker is going to be more like the 1985 release, with distressing and aging expected to appear on the upper and midsole. The iconic colorway features a white leather upper and white nylon tongue, with red leather overlays sans the Swoosh and ankle collar appearing in black. The tongue tag is seen in red with white Nike branding with a white midsole and red outsole finishing off the sneaker.
Inspired by hunting the basements and storage rooms of mom and pop shops back in the day, the packaging, receipt, mismatched box top, and other details pay homage to the chase of the Chicago Air Jordan 1 after its 1984-1985 debut.
The Air Jordan 1 Retro High OGLost & Found is now scheduled to drop on November 19, 2022 via SNKRS and at select retailers for $180. Check out the photos below and for all the latest drop dates, head over to our Sneaker Release Dates page.

History Of Air Jordan 1

As the story goes, the year was 1984, and Chicago Bulls’ rookie Michael Jordan was a hot commodity for endorsement deals, with sneakers naturally being paramount.
Jordan had just come off a stellar college basketball season at the University of North Carolina. He wore Converse and was a personal fan of Adidas, so he took meetings with both companies, but they never reached a deal. It seems strange today, but at the time, Michael Jordan hated Nikeso much so that he refused to take a meeting with them.
He was persuaded by his mother, Deloris Jordan, to visit the Nike campus in Oregon and listen to their pitch. His plan was to go through the motions to appease his parents and agent but he ultimately left with a contract unlike any other.
Rather than walking in the shadows of established athletes like Magic Johnson and Larry Bird , Michael Jordan shone in the Nike limelight. He was paid more than any other athlete with a sneaker endorsement at the time. Nike made him the face of its growing presence in basketball, and gave him his own sneaker linecalled Air Jordan.

Coming SoonLearn More
Easily the most-anticipated release of 2022, we now have new images and a closer look at the upcoming Air Jordan 1 High OG Chicago Reimagined. Showcasing the most iconic AJ1 colourway of all time, this pair pays homage to the original 1985 release. The Jordan 1 was Michael Jordans first ever signature sneaker and remains just as iconic today as it was all those years ago when it first launched to the masses.
Decked out in shades of red, white and black, its now apparent that this new pair will be modelled on the 1994 AJ1 silhouette, which showcases a distinct heel shape, larger Swoosh logos and a structured toe box. Cracked leather detailing also offers up a pre-aged look thats currently on-trend, meaning these should appeal to a wide demographic of consumers.
Classic features such as Swoosh logos, wings motifs and perforated toe boxes also make an appearance, with an aged-white midsole concealing plenty of cushioning to make these comfortable everyday staples.
If youre looking at getting your hands on this hyped release, then the good news is that it’s rumoured for launch on the 29th October, so you can start your countdown now. In the meantime be sure to keep it locked in right here at The Sole Supplier for all the latest sneaker news and updates!

Taking It Back With The Air Jordan 1
The first retro range was the one that started it all. One of the earliest styles in the collection was Bred, a Chicago-influenced design that paid homage to MJ with its vibrant black and red colorway. Made with supple leather, it featured a thick rubber midsole and a bold red outsole, along with eye-catching Air Jordan branding on the sides and Nike Air branding on the tongues. Another Jordan 1 shoe in the collection was Chicago, a reissue of the best-seller that combined bright red and white with hints of black on the laces and the legendary Nike Swoosh on the sides.
In 2001, the Nike dropped another Air Jordan 1 retro lineup. This time, they added a fresh, mid-top silhouette branded with the now-iconic Jumpman logo. And in 2008, the brand retraced its roots, going back to the original high-cut design of the 85 Jordan 1. Since then, its been released in numerous colorways that have enticed collectors and new enthusiasts alike.

Air Jordan 1 High Og Stage Haze
The Air Jordan 1 High OG Lost & Found, previously known as the Air Jordan 1 High OG Chicago Reimagined, is without a doubt the most anticipated Jordan Brand release of 2022. Though not quite an actual retro release of Air Jordan 1 High OG Chicago, this new Lost & Found rendition of the sneaker is a refreshing take on a classic colorway of the Air Jordan 1 High OG.
Regarding the backstory of the sneaker, the overall concept of the release is an homage to mom and pop shops. From the special custom packaging to the retro-inspired details, everything plays a part in imagining a scenario in which you come a DS pair of Chicago 1s in the basement/storage of these very mom and pop shops. Imagine the Chicago 1s in storage packed up in beat up boxes, which even includes a replacement AJKO lid. The mix up concept presents the idea of Lost and Found to give you an aged filter look to this old classic. Aside from the vintage box, other much-appreciated packaging details include a vintage receipt, discount stickers and even some newspaper with vintage Air Jordan 1 advertisements on it.
The Air Jordan 1 High OG Lost & Found will retail for $180 and is currently slated to release on November 19th at select retailers and Nike SNKRS. For a complete guide including official photos, release dates, pricing and where to buy, visit: Air Jordan 1 High OG Lost & Found.

Jordan 1 Retro High Og Chicago 2015

Released in 2015, the Jordan 1 Retro High OG is a re=release of the 1985 original. Retroed in 1994 and again in 2013, the 2015 release showcases the original 1985 branding details. Designed by Peter Moore, the colorway allowed Jordan to avoid steep game fines after the NBA banned a previous, similar colorway. A minimalist heel without the Jumpman logo offsets the Nike Air logo adorning the tongue and the Air Jordan Wings logo on the ankle collar. The upper is genuine, premium leather, and the sole is equipped with Air technology.

The New Chicago Jordan 1s Are For Poseurs
Few kicks are as iconic to sneakerheads as the Nike Air Jordan 1. That shoe, designed by Peter Moore and originally released in 1985, is not particularly special on its own its cool, but it looks like a lot of other Nike shoes Moore and others designed in the mid-1980s. As it happened, though, this sneaker was Michael Jordans, and so revolutionized both basketball sneakers and the marketing around them. For what its worth, I think its a great-looking shoe.
Nike does not just produce the most popular Jordan 1s to meet demand. Recently they have released dozens of Jordan 1s per year, in varying styles, price points, and availability. They come as high tops, low tops, a mid cut thats not all that different than the high but is somehow much less cool, 85 versions that are truer to the original design, waterproof GORE-TEX ones, altered versions for golf or skateboarding, a cheaper comfort variety, a cheaper AJKO model that mimics knockoff Jordans, and some stupid-looking Jordan 1s with bags on them. I might be forgetting some. There are a lot.
The leaks have continued, and pairs are starting to show up. Its called the Lost and Found. Heres a video from DS Dan, who I picked because his name is Dan.
One of the things that Nike and Jordan Brand have done so well is use the Air Jordan 1 for storytelling. The Ringers Justin Sayles explained in 2020:
The Celtics Colorway Is Returning To The Air Jordan 1 In Og High Form

News of Jordan Brands releases for Spring/Summer 2023 continues to roll in and the Jumpman is bringing back the Air Jordan 1 in the Celtics colorway, this time in the OG High form next spring.
Originally released in 2009 in the Air Jordan 1 Defining Moments Pack which pays tribute to Michael Jordans 63-point game against the Boston Celtics in the 1986 NBA Playoffs, the sneaker uses the Chicago color blocking, replacing red with Celtics Green on the ankle flap and heel counter alongside black overlays on the white leather base. Unlike the 2009 release, the Jumpman is replaced with Nike Air branding on the tongue and the Jumpman stitched on the heel is removed completely. Lastly, a white midsole and Celtics green outsole finish off the sneaker.
The Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG Celtics is scheduled to drop on April 15, 2023 via SNKRS and at select retailers for $180. Check out the mock-up below and for all the latest drop dates, head over to our Sneaker Release Dates page.
