Skender Completes Construction Of Aspen Dental Midwest Headquarters

Skender, serving as interior construction manager, has completed construction of Aspen Dentals new 50,000-square-foot Midwest headquarters. Aspen Dental, an East Syracuse, New York-based company that provides administrative and business support to branded dental practices, has relocated to the art deco building vacated by Sterling Bay at 1040 W. Randolph Street.

To accommodate a practice support center and 250 newly created jobs, Aspen Dentals two-story buildout includes a state-of-the-art training center for corporate employees, including private virtual training studios three large training rooms with movable partitions and an audiovisual media wall with interactive digital signage. Additional features include a custom millwork coffee bar, open café and catering kitchen space used for training and company events.

A custom concrete reception desk shaped like the firms logo anchors the large space. The new practice support center will house a learning and development center for dentists around the country whose practices operate under the Aspen Dental brand.

Skender collaborated with architecture firm Perkins+Will to complete the project in January.

CHICAGOAspen Dental Management has signed a long-term lease for a total of 205,000 square feet of office and retail space at the 19-story 800 W. Fulton Market mixed-use building here. The deal marks the first lease signing at the property under development.

The deal at the more than 400,000-square-foot mixed-use project that is slated for completion in 2021 was announced by joint venture development partners Thor Equities Group of New York City and QuadReal of Vancouver. The announcement comes as Site Selection Magazine has named Chicago as the top metro area in the nation for corporate relocation and investment for the fifth consecutive year.

Aspen Dental Plans To Relocate C

East Syracuse, N.Y.-based Aspen Dental Management plans to hire between 300 and 500 new workers while also shifting its C-suite to its new Chicago location, according to The Chicago Tribune.

In January, Aspen Dental announced that it would build a new Chicago location, which will now serve as its national headquarters, CEO Robert Fontana told the Tribune. Currently, the Chicago office has about 100 employees. Employees will move into 200,000-square-foot space in the fall of 2021.

Aspen Dental will focus on hiring finance, marketing, human resources, information technology and operations professionals over the next three years. The dental service organization is looking to hire Chicago area residents.

“We knew Chicago would be an important hub for us for a variety of reasons, mostly talent,” Mr. Fontana told the Tribune. “When we think about growing our business, talent is at the center of what we do.”

Along with new space for executives, the headquarters will feature 20,000 square feet of space dedicated to learning and development for dentists from all across the country. The ground level will be equipped with an Aspen Dental practice and an urgent care clinic.

Aspen Dental did not receive any tax incentives to relocate, Mr. Fontana told the Tribune.

FULTON MARKET Aspen Dental signed a lease to occupy eight floors and more than 200,000 square feet of office and retail space at Thor Equities 19-story tower being built at the site of the old Isaacson & Stein Fish building in Fulton Market.

Aspen Dental is a New York-based company that provides business and administrative support to hundreds of independent dental practices that operate under its umbrella.

The company plans to use the Fulton Market location as a Midwest headquarters.

The lease at 800 W. Fulton Market St. runs 14 years and gobbles up nearly half of the buildings 400,000 square feet of office and retail space, Thor Equities announced.

The new lease quadruples its previous office space in the neighborhood.

In June, the City Council approved the Thor Equities tower despite some objections from West Loop residents who said the project would worsen congestion and compromise pedestrian safety in the booming area.
