Any One Go To Aviation Institute Of Maintenance Is It Worth 50k For 21 Month Program

Sadly AIM is the closest aviation maintenance in Chicago area. Nearest community college is 3 hours away

If you’re able. Avoid A.I.M. and apply yourself to a community College that offers the program. You’ll save significantly amounts of money.

Not sure what schools are like out there but I go to a program at my community college and pay maybe 1500 a year for a 24 month program. You should be able to find something similar

Nope. Check all of your Jr. Collages .

Two years you have an associate degree and your A& P certificate.

Al that matters is that you have possession of an A& P. Where you get it is irrelevant.

Community College is the way to go, but in Clearwater, FL they have National Aviation Academy for 38k and its a 14 month program.

I only steer people to that place if they have a GI bill. Otherwise it is better to go to a community college that has an AP program and there are plenty. NAA is not a bad school by any stretch but is it worth 38k? Highly debatable.

Go to rock valley in Rockford, I spent a grand total of $16 grand for my A& P. It’s worth the drive to save that much on tuition.

I work full time at Niles , approximately an hour and 20 min drive to Rockford with gas price these days. Thats a hard choice but Im considering it. Or Ill try to look a apartment in between.

The Aim Chicago Campus Will Offer Aircraft Maintenance Training And Other Programming To Expand Workforce Development In The Working Class Neighborhood Of Mckinley Park

There is no school offering an FAA-certified aviation maintenance program in the Chicago area. The closest options are in Rockford, two hours northwest, and in Joliet, an hour southwest. None of these schools meet Chicago citizens where they are, and AIM is here to change that.” – Dr. English

Aviation Institute of Maintenance is in development of a campus in Chicagos McKinley Park neighborhood. The build out of the new warehouse facility at 3711 S. Ashland Avenue is nearing completion. The new facility will be AIMs 14th and their largest aviation maintenance campus to date. The building features 32-foot clear height, 28 exterior loading docks, two drive-in doors, 100 percent premium Ductilcrete concrete paving and 138 car parking spaces. AIM has also purchased 14 aircraft for the campus, including a Learjet that arrived at the facility in late June.

Were thrilled to welcome AIM to Chicago, said Conway. From its urban location in the McKinley Park neighborhood, the institute has an excellent demographic pool for both prospective students and staff, large traffic counts and immediate access to Chicagos airports.

AIM received an Illinois Economic Development for a Growing Economy Tax Credit to expand into Chicago and has already hired three Chicago-based employees. They anticipate hiring approximately 40 people from the Chicago area by the end of 2021, and 75 by the end of 2022.

Boosting Uniteds Workforce Pipeline

The Chicago campus is also a major part of AIMs partnership with United Airlines, which is headquartered in the city. It created a program with the airline in 2017 called United With AIM that enabled United employees to receive a 10% discount or grant toward tuition at AIM. At the time we dedicated not only that we would give a tuition grant to United employees, but that we would bring new campuses to their facilities, says English.

As part of these efforts, AIM opened a new campus last year in Teterboro, New Jersey to help United fill workforce pipeline at its New York/Newark hub and English says the Chicago campus will help the airline fulfill its workforce needs at OHare.

Amid A Looming Shortage Of Aviation Workers The Aviation Institute Of Maintenance Sets Up Shop In Mckinley Park

The Aviation Institute of Maintenance school in McKinley Park.

Aviation Institute of Maintenance is opening the only aviation-maintenance school in Chicago in a former warehouse on the southwest side.

AIM, which operates 13 aviation schools across the country, has set up shop at 3711 S. Ashland Ave. in McKinley Park, where it converted a warehouse into an aircraft hangar. Classes begin Sept. 27 with about 40 students.

More

AIM expects to train about 200 students annually. The company, based in Norfolk, Va., is a major partner with AAR, an aircraft maintenance and parts provider based in Wood Dale. As home to two major airports and airline, Chicago is a major hub for aviation jobs.

Although the COVID-19 pandemic has hurt air travel, the aviation industry is scrambling to find employees as it faces a wave of baby boomer retirements. Boeing predicts more than 600,000 new aviation technicians will be needed worldwide over the next 20 years.

“Concerns around labor shortages will return as retirements accelerate over the next five to 10 years,” Boeing said in a recent report. “In mature aviation markets, the average age of the technician workforce continues to increase, indicating fewer young people entering the profession.”

Aviation technicians must receive FAA certification, but the job does not require a college degree. They earn about $70,000 per year, on average, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
