While age doesnt always guarantee quality, it is difficult to ignore one of Chicagos oldest restaurants in Lou Mitchells. The restaurant has been serving up breakfasts and brunches for 98 years and will celebrate 100 years in the business in 2023. The family diner was started by Uncle Lou back in 1923 specializing in breakfast, brunch, and lunch dishes before being handed down to his son Lou Mitchell.
The website boasts that weve poured enough cups of our signature coffee to fill the Chicago River and our delicious pancakes could fill Wrigley field. With various different pancakes, waffles, and omelets there is plenty of option and this old-school dining experience is sure to exceed expectations. More information can be found here.

Summer House Santa Monica
Lincoln Park – Brunch Served Saturday and Sunday 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Between the sunny ambiance and ultra-trendy weekend brunch menu, this upscale restaurant and wine bar is the quintessential brunch spot. The Prosecco-soaked clientele skews chic, especially for their popular weekend brunch. On Saturdays and Sundays, itâs almost impossible to get a table because this is the most popular brunch destination on the north side. Reservations are basically a requirement unless you can snag a couple of stools at the bar, which is hardly a bad thing considering the people-watching and âsee and be seenâ atmosphere. The dining room is gorgeous, with hanging plants and an open ceiling that feels like a patio.
The brunch classics pull from the West Coast and Mexico for ingredients and inspiration. Obviously, thereâs a perfectly serviceable avocado toast on the brunch menu, but the breakfast tostadas, breakfast tacos, and Mexican hash browns with fried eggs are very popular. The huevos rancheros might be the brunch menuâs headliner, with an upscale take on this Southwestern classic, which is wildly popular throughout Chicagoâs underrated Mexican food scene. The brunch cocktails are as enticing as the food, with a variety of specialty concoctions that take inspiration from cold brew, Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal, and herbal flavors. They serve updated versions of mimosas and bloody marys as well.
Summer House Santa Monica Lincoln Park

Beatnik West Town & Riverside
Youll struggle to find another cafe in Chicago as trendy as Beatnik. The exotic escape from the folks behind Celeste boasts an opulent old-world design and has a fantastic menu to boot. The West Town restaurant was inspired by writers and artists of the 1950s and 60s Beat Generation and so the decor inside consequently draws inspiration from around the world with bright colors, hundreds of plants, and a bohemian vibe. Restoration Hardware has opened several stunning restaurants at select RH design galleries in the US and Canada. Destinations like Toronto, Napa Valley, Charlotte, NYC, and Chicago have been among the select few to welcome these highly prized dining experiences.
3 Arts Club is located in the center of a 70,000 square foot design gallery. The space is breathtaking. A glass ceiling encloses the central garden space. Glittering crystal chandeliers hang from above. You’ll feel like you’ve entered a secret garden as you take in the trickling stone fountain and the olive trees lining the walls.
The decor and furniture is, of course, exquisite…this is Restoration Hardware after all. The brunch items are scrumptious…though overpriced as you are paying for the atmosphere.
$20 for a burger, $7 for a latte, $18 for an egg scramble. I’m not joking when I say the prices are quite high. But if atmosphere is your thing, the high price point will be worth the experience.
Go savory and try the truffled grilled cheese, lobster roll, or burger. The burrata is as creamy as can be and the coffee and tea selection is top quality.
Reservations are a must.
