Is this a decent area to stay? It seems close to several things I intend to do as well as near a subway stop. I know its not in one of the top two locations but wondering if it will be decent enough.

The area is fine, a bit lonely at night but if it were further north, closer to the tourist center, the prices would be higher. It is a budget hotel. If you read the reviews on TA, it gets decent enough feedback.

Your hotel has a great location across from the park. It’s not as busy as up north but certainly busy enough. You will not be alone on the streets at night at all.

I stayed here for my first trip to Chicago a few years ago and was even upgraded to a park and lake view. We really enjoyed the location to the Field Museum and Adler planetarium, as well as just an afternoon walk to the park and State St shopping. We did also go to Jazz Showcase and Buddy Guy’s Legends, and were very thankful of our hotel location for those evening outings. We like to walk, so did walk up to the Mag Mile one day, but used the bus on other days. The subway was also convenient for our return to O’Hare. I wouldn’t have a problem staying here again, though the walls are thin. For future trips we did, however, stay in the River North area, including a trip scheduled in the next two weeks.

Did not enjoy my experience in this hotel, the location that I needed was great but the hotel itself was not. the rooms where dirty and old. There was a big patch of paint missing on the ceiling. The windows where so dirty you could not see out of them and if you tried to clean them they might have fallen out. the carpet was dirty and paint was just missing everywhere on the walls throughout the room. the bathroom was not up to date and water had been leaking under the sink. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, they seriously need to update for the amount they charge.
