Getting Out And About
Volunteers are carefully matched with a child between the ages of 7 and 14 to form a mentoring relationship. Spending one-on-one time in the local community is primarily how these relationships develop. Each match is unique and creates a schedule that works for them. During outings, Bigs and Littles do everyday activities that provide children with the opportunity to discover a world of possibilities for their life.

Ringing In The Holiday Season With Big Brothers Big Sisters
Staff Management | SMX helped to ring in holiday cheer for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Chicago earlier this month, sponsoring their annual holiday party Saturday, December 10th and helping to wrap presents to be given out at the event earlier that week. BBBSMC provides one-to-one mentoring relationships between at-risk youth and screened and trained mentors and this event brings together the Big Brothers and Big Sisters to create a memorable event for the Little Brothers and Little Sisters in attendance.
The Big Brothers and Big Sisters gathered at U.S. Cellular Fields Stadium Club for a day of food, fun, games, and even an appearance from Santa Claus himself! Joan Davison, our President & COO, was joined by Jerry Wimer, Vice President of Global Operations & Staffing Center of Excellence, to help spread holiday cheer to the nearly 480 Little Brothers and Little Sisters and their Bigs that attended the party.

We were happy to return to the in-person annual Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Chicago tailgate party. This year’s event was re-imagined like no other with themed tailgate games, sports, and live music. All funds from the event will go directly towards creating and sustaining one-to-one mentoring matches.

Take the first step to inspire youth potential
- Description: BBBS is seeking volunteers in Northwest Chicago and surrounding areas to be mentors to one of the 350 kids on our current waitlist. Bigs and Littles go on fun and appropriate outings like visiting a museum, playing basketball, or exploring new cultures.
- Commitment: Volunteers must meet with their mentees twice monthly for one year.
- Locations: Our volunteers serve in Cook County, DuPage County, Lake County, IL and Lake County, IN. We are a community-based program, so our volunteers meet their mentees at their homes and at community outings.
