The Chicago College of Performing Arts , one of Roosevelt Universitys five colleges, provides students with professional conservatory training in music performance, music education, music composition, performing arts administration, acting, and musical theatre through its two divisions: the Music Conservatory and the Theatre Conservatory. Currently located in the historic Auditorium Building in the heart of downtown Chicago, the College was founded in 1867 by Florenz Ziegfeld, Sr. as the Chicago Academy of Musicthe fourth conservatory to be established in the United States. Rutgers Universitydrama And Dance
Rutgers’ Mason Gross School of the Arts has world-class drama and dance programs. Thanks to its proximity to New York City, the dance program offers students opportunities for master classes and workshops in world dance forms with international artists. It also has two tremendous programs abroad, DanceJerusalem in Israel and the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London.
Rutgers’ drama program is unique and well rounded. Classes run the gamut from Shakespeare to modern TV. Students spend their third year at the Rutgers Conservatory at Shakespeare’s Globe in London, which culminates with a performance on the Globe stage. A World Class Conservatory Looks To The Future
The Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University is a world-class performing arts college that offers gifted students professional training at its prestigious music and theatre conservatories. CCPA is one of the first conservatories founded in the United States. To expand its offerings and remain competitive with other institutions, CCPA launched a comprehensive 2-year feasibility study following Rotholzs recommendation. A Statement of Need and Probable Cost was presented to a generous donor who funded the study. The 12-month study included restacking of existing teaching facilities within the historic Auditorium Building and proposed a new building structure on vacant land for a new theater. The program included a 350-seat proscenium theater and music rehearsal spaces designed to accommodate a full orchestra and a 150-seat black box theater.
