Patrick Birmingham, M.D.- Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon- Chicago specialist in Hip arthroscopy, sports medicine and arthroscopic surgical treatment of shoulder, knee, and elbow injuries. Dr. Birmingham is a clinical faculty for the University Of Chicago Department Of Orthopaedic Surgery. After completion of residency at George Washington University, Dr. Birmingham completed a fellowship in Sports Medicine, Shoulder Surgery, and advanced Hip Arthroscopy at the Hospital for Special Surgery which ranks first in the nation in orthopedics by U.S. News & World Report. Dr. Birmingham serves as a Team Physician for the Chicago Bears, and has served as team physician for the New York Giants, and Milwaukee Mustangs. Dr. Birmingham concentrates on Hip Impingement and Arthroscopy, anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, the treatment of shoulder dislocations and rotator cuff injuries, and cartilage repair.

DES PLAINES, Ill., January 3, 2020 Illinois Bone & Joint Institute , one of the largest independent, physician-owned orthopedic practices in the United States, is happy to announce today that Chicago Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine, S.C. will be joining our practice as of January 1st, 2020. COSM has a physician office and physical therapy located at 3000 N. Halsted St., Suite 525, Chicago, IL 60657 and an additional physician office located at 331 W. Surf St., Suite 6400, Chicago, IL 60657.
Through our joined efforts, COSM patients will benefit from the expanded resources and expertise provided through IBJIs large network of physicians, rehabilitation, and imaging services.
We are grateful to be able to provide our patients with the same great comprehensive and personalized care they have come to expect, now under our new IBJI brand, says Dr. David Guelich, President, Chicago Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine, S.C.

David Kaplan joined NBC Sports Chicago in January of 2008. He is the host of NBC Sports Chicagos Football Aftershow with former Chicago Bears Alex Brown, Lance Briggs, Olin Kreutz and Dave Wannstedt. In addition to running a busy sports medicine surgical practice and serving as Director of the Chicago Sports Summit, Dr. Cole is a Professor in the Department of Orthopedics at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL. He also serves as Associate-Chairman of the Department of Orthopedics at Rush and Chairman of Surgery at Rush Oak Park Hospital. He is the Section Head of the Cartilage Research and Restoration Center at Rush specializing in the treatment of arthritis in young active patients with a focus on regenerative medicine and biologic alternatives to surgery.
