Report : White Sox Manager Tony La Russa Not Going Anywhere
Given the history between Reinsdorf and La Russa, this was pretty much a given.
Stop the presses! This is some serious stuff we are about to dive into. Jon Heyman of the New York Post and MLB Network believes Tony LaRussa will manage the Chicago White Sox next year!
I checked in with Jerry Reinsdorf recently, just about a week or so ago, about whether La Russa was going to keep his job. He responded to me by email as he always does. He said something like, I would expect somebody who has been around as long as you that knows me that well would know that I would not answer that question,’Heyman said on 670 The Scores the Mully & Haugh Show.
Now, I am not trying to call out Heyman here, but really? Of course, we all know that La Russa isnt going anywhere until his contract is up. Though the White Sox have reached .500 and are only three games back of the AL Central, injuries have ravished the team all year. There will be enough excuses, whether fans agree with them or not, that will keep La Russa on the bench for the remainder of his contract.
Ozzie Guillen & Scott Podsednik have had enoughPodsednik: “We need to hear Tony say ‘the way we’re taking the field and what we’re doing is unacceptable.'”Ozzie: “I want him to be THAT guy. The White Sox need THAT guy.”

Chicago One Of Mlb’s Most Disappointing Teams So Far Still Has A Shot At Repeating As Al Central Champs
It’s been a disappointing season thus far for the Chicago White Sox. At this writing, they’re a mere .500 on the year, and they’ve benefited from playing in the lackluster American League Central.
The “disappointing” part flows from their recent history. In the abbreviated 2020 season, the Sox played at a 94-win clip and made the postseason for the first time since 2008. Following a thoroughly puzzling decision to move on from manager Rick Renteria in favor of long-retired Hall of Famer Tony La Russa, Chicago won the division title in 2021. The goal in 2022 was to repeat as flag-bearers in the Central and also advanced past the first round of the playoffs for the first time since their championship season of 2005. As the deadline looms, however, that goal has been revised to “sneak into the postseason.”
Given how tight the margins are, the Sox should be active prior to the Aug. 2 trade deadline. The White Sox have pronounced needs, but owner Jerry Reinsdorf’s willingness to add payroll, at least significant payroll, is left to question. Now let’s have a closer look at the South Siders as the 2022 trade deadline looms.

Mlb Rumors: Tony La Russa Expected To Remain White Sox Manager Through End Of Season

The Chicago White Sox are reportedly not expected to make a managerial change during the 2022 season.
Jon Heyman of the New York Post reported Tony La Russa is expected to remain with the team through at least this season and could return in 2023.
I am surprised that someone who has been around a long time and knows me well would waste time asking a question he knows Im not going to answer,” White Sox owner Jerry Reinsdorf told Heyman via email when asked about La Russa’s status.
La Russa, 77, is in his second season in his second stint as White Sox manager. After winning the AL Central in La Russa’s first season back in the South Side, the White Sox head into the All-Star break with a disappointing 46-46 record. The Hall of Famer has taken significant criticism from fans throughout the season, with many questioning his in-game decision-making.
Last month, La Russa confusingly called for an intentional walk of Dodgers star Trae Turner when he was facing a 1-2 count. Max Muncy, the Dodgers’ next batter, belted a grand slam that plated what proved to be the deciding runs in an 11-9 White Sox loss.
The team’s underperformance led to some speculation La Russa could be on the hot seat, but that does not appear to be the case. Management has faced heat regarding La Russa’s hiring since it was announced, dealing with concerns about his age and history of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Andrew Vaughn Compared The Rockies Home Field To The University Of Utahs Stadium
Andrew Vaughn says the White Soxs outfielders will have a lot of ground to cover at Coors Field.
The White Sox will make their first visit to Coors Field since 2017 on Tuesday, but there will be a small degree of familiarity for outfielder Andrew Vaughn during the two-game interleague series against the Rockies.
Vaughn compared the spacious dimensions of Coors Field to Smiths Ballpark in Salt Lake City.
That place is huge, said Vaughn, a former Cal standout, comparing Utahs home to Coors Field. That place is huge. The ball flies.
With the exception of the distance from home plate to the right-field foul pole, the spacious dimensions are similar and could present a challenge to the Sox outfielders particularly Eloy Jimenez and Vaughn because of their sore legs.
Well learn what its like when we get there, Vaughn said.
Coors Fields dimensions feature a distance of 347 feet from home plate to left field, 415 feet to center field and 350 feet to right.
Saving legs
Many fans have been bewildered by manager Tony La Russas decision to give Vaughn occasional rest.
Their latest disappointment occurred Sunday, when Vaughn was out of the lineup after playing the first three games of the second half, including both games of -Saturdays day-night doubleheader.
At times, Vaughn hasnt run at full speed because of advice to preserve his legs, and Mondays day off gave him two days to keep his legs fresh entering the Rockies series.
