On Thursday afternoon, the Chicago White Sox and Minnesota Twins meet in the final game of their three-game set.

The first two games saw the White Sox come out victorious in both. On Tuesday, they held on for a wild 7-6 decision, before a six-run fifth propelled Chicago to a 13-3 schlacking.

The Chicago White Sox are doing everything they can to be recognized as one of the best teams in the American League. However, their recent struggles have seen them fall back into a battle for the AL Central lead with the Cleveland Indians. The White Sox have lost seven of their last nine games heading into the series, including a rough four-game sweep at the hands of the Houston Astros. They finish the month of June with a 14-11 record, despite an 12-4 start to the month. Chicago still leads the division with a 47-32 record, and the lead the Indians by four games.

The WHITE SOX -1.5 are a better value on their home field against the Twins +1.5 , especially since Lynn has been so hard on the division rivals.

Minnesota is just 1-5 in its past six against winning teams and 1-5 in the past six on the road against a right-handed starter, too. Chicago has won seven of the past eight, and theyre 5-1 in the past six at home vs. RHP.

Chicago White Sox: 1 Al Central Division Rival Signed Their Guy

The Chicago White Sox won the American League Central Division by 13 games in 2021. We went in thinking that they would have a tough battle with the Minnesota Twins. However, the Twins were not the team that came in second place. They didnt come in third or fourth either. To everyones surprise, they were the last-place team.

That may or may not be the case going forward but they certainly dont want it to be the case. The Twins are a team that always wants to be relevant and they usually are. To help with that, they gave one of their stars a big contract extension. Byron Buxton and Minnesota agreed to a seven-year deal worth 100 million dollars.

Buxton is the type of player that is incredibly impactful when he is healthy. He had a 4.5 WAR in a year where he played in only 61 games. That is borderline incredible. He had a slash of .306/.358/.647 for an OPS of 1.005. He also had 19 home runs and 32 RBIs to go with 50 runs scored. Even though it wasnt a lot of games, he was a very impactful player.

As mentioned before, Buxton is great when he is healthy. Unfortunately, he isnt healthy very often. He has only played north of 100 games in one season of his career and it came in 2017. That was also only one of two times that he has played in 90 games during his 7 years with the Twins. That needs to change if he is going to be worthy of the money they have invested in him.

The Chicago White Sox Started To Hit Lots Of Home Runs In This Victory Over The Twins

When you lose superstars like Eloy Jimenez and Luis Robert to injury, it is expected to see the lineup lose a little bit of pop. However, it lost it a bit more than some people might think. Well, in this game against the Twins, they got it back. They hit a whopping six home runs in this game and that helped them win big.

First of all, Brian Goodwin got the party started. After a smattering of boos for Donaldson in the first inning because of his comments, he used that to his advantage and gave the Twins a 1-0 lead on a home run of his own. However, Goodwins solo shot tied the game and the White Sox never looked back from there.

Yasmani Grandal was the star of the game as he hit two of the six White Sox home runs. He has really been heating up lately and the White Sox are truly appreciating it. He is one of the best offensive catchers in the game right now. If he can keep up the power along with his elite on-base ability, the White Sox will go a long way.

YASMANI GRANDAL TO THE ALL STAR GAME!

    Southside Showdown

Andrew Vaughn decided to get in on the fun with a home run which was desperately needed for him. He has been crushing right-handed pitching lately which is a great sign for the White Sox lineup who could use as much of that as possible. This kid is going to be so good for so long which is exciting to think about because of how young he is.

First career home run for Gavin Sheets. Congrats, kid!

Chicago White Sox: Minnesota Twins get a little bit better

Max Kepler and Jorge Polanco homered to back five strong innings from Michael Pineda and boost the visiting Minnesota Twins to a 7-2 victory against the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday night.

Kepler and Polanco, who both also homered Tuesday, combined for five of the Twins 11 hits as Minnesota salvaged a split of the four-game series. Polanco went 3-for-4 and finished a triple short of the cycle.

Chicago stranded eight runners and went 2-for-8 with men in scoring position while grounding into four double plays.

Kepler opened the scoring while leading off the third inning, clanging a solo home run off the right field foul pole.

Adam Engel legged out an RBI infield single in the bottom of the third to tie the game at 1. The White Sox flashed their speed earlier in the inning, as Billy Hamilton doubled and stole third base before Tim Anderson walked and stole second.

Pineda, who has dealt with inconsistency and injury, earned his first victory since May 26. He yielded one run on four hits and a walk while striking out three. Pineda threw 48 of his 73 pitches for strikes.

MINNEAPOLIS The Chicago White Sox already were enjoying quite a season despite missing two key players. Now with Eloy Jiménez and Luis Robert back in the lineup, the AL Central leaders are looking even more formidable.

Jiménez hit two homers with five RBIs for the second straight game, Robert came off the 60-day injured list to deliver an RBI double and single, and the White Sox cruised past the Minnesota Twins 11-1 Monday night.

Getting both those guys back is kind of a reminder of what they can do to help us, manager Tony La Russa said.

Tim Anderson led off the game with a home run for the second day in a row and Lucas Giolito pitched two-hit ball for eight innings as the White Sox won their fourth in a row.

Jiménez became the first White Sox player with consecutive games of at least two homers and five RBIs, and the first in the majors since Bryce Harper for Washington in 2015.

Jiménez has five homers and 14 RBIs in 10 games since his return from the injured list after missing all of the season with a ruptured pectoral tendon sustained in spring training.

Yes, I feel really good, Jiménez said of having his timing down at the plate.

Giolito faced the minimum over the first seven innings. The first hit he allowed came on a hard grounder from Luis Arraez to start the fifth inning that glanced off Giolitos leg.

      Miguel Sanó homered off Giolito.

Yoán Moncada homered in the ninth for Chicago.

Yoelqui Cespedes Could Be A Good Player For The Chicago White Sox One Day

2022 could be the year that we see him come up. It probably wont be right away but injuries and bad performances from anyone would lead to his call-up. It is up to him to perform well enough to make sure he starts the year in AAA so that the next step is the MLB. If all goes according to plan, he will be a great White Sox player for a long time.

How far Cespedes is able to take his production is up for debate but it could be very good. He has an above-average power bat and arm for someone his age. If he can put these tools together, he could become a full-time MLB player in short order.

For 2022 specifically, it would be nice to see the White Sox add a right fielder at the MLB level so they dont have to rush any prospects but that could be Cespedes one day. If he becomes a very good player in right, the outfield will be even more set with Eloy Jimenez and Luis Robert out there. 2022, as mentioned before, could be the year we see him make an impact.

This Chicago White Sox Prospect Could Make It In 2022

For a long time, prospects were the biggest key to the Chicago White Sox baseball conversation. A lot of those prospects like Yoan Moncada, Eloy Jimenez, Michael Kopech, Dylan Cease, Lucas Giolito, and Luis Robert amongst others have come up and become great MLB players. Some of them are even knocking on the door of being superstars.

The conversation now is less about prospects because the team is no longer in a rebuild. They have made the playoffs in consecutive years for the first time in team history which means a lot of these prospects have been supplemented by veterans so that the team can take the next step.

Even though the rebuilding phase is over at the MLB level, the organization needs to keep restocking prospects. Being smart in trades, the draft, and international free agency, the White Sox can keep adding them so that they always have a stacked farm.

If they do that, the organization will continue to succeed. Long-term success comes to those who have great Minor League systems pumping out good players year after year. It also allows teams to make trades for MLB players that are ready to contribute at the MLB level. The White Sox saw a lot of them graduate to the MLB ready and they are hoping to keep the organization stocked.
