Chocolate Factory In Chicago Illinois

Fine Chocolates Crafted At Origin

Fire at Chicago chocolate factory

We are a Colombian family owned chocolate manufacturer, founded in 1906. Through direct sourcing and a full integration of the value chain from bean to chocolate bar, we have developed an in-depth knowledge of Colombian Fine Flavour Cocoas and how to express their uniqueness through a portfolio of exceptional fine chocolates crafted at origin. Luker Chocolate partners with brands and companies around the world who are deeply committed to quality and sustainability, to develop gourmet chocolates and create shared value at origin.

Luker Chocolates history began in the early 1900s, when chocolate was considered a luxury for Colombia. For many years, the companys founders pioneered the development of what is considered today as one of Colombias main food staples. Through the production of a consistent high-quality chocolate for hot beverages, we led the growth of the cocoa industry in Colombia.

As a company with strong ties to cocoa-growing communities in Colombia and a firm belief in the power of creating shared value, we started The Chocolate Dream, a unique collaborative sustainability plan with a long-term vision to improve wellbeing in the communities we work with.

A key element of creating shared value at origin is the ability to maintain environmental balance in cocoa-growing communities.

The next stage is to become carbon neutral with outside providers by the end of 2027.

Selling packs of chewing gum can lead to big business and no one was more successful at it than the Wrigley Company, an iconic candy maker company that was founded in Chicago in 1891. Initially a soap and baking powder manufacturer, Wrigley offered purchasers gum as a premium to sell the companys primary products. Wrigley soon realized however that the gum was more popular than the other products so he retooled his factory so it could manufacture gum. In 1893, Wrigley introduced Juicy Fruit and Spearmint brands Doublemint was introduced in 1914. Though the company was acquired by Mars, Inc. in 2008 for $23 billion, it still maintains a Global Innovation Center on Goose Island.

History Of Chocolate And Candy Making In Chicago

Candy Company Coming Back To Chicago

Chicago’s thriving sweets industry resulted from a culmination of economic, political, social and cultural events that helped shape the business of candy.

The 1871 Great Chicago Fire demolished many businesses but some would return with fierce determination. Charles F. Gunther is credited with introducing caramels to America he sold them from his Clark Street candy business, which burned completely to the ground in the fire. Following that event, he erected an impressive factory building on 212 State Street. The entire lower level housed his ornate candy store. This new business made him rich, and with his money he collected historical and unusual artifacts, displaying them in his candy shop. Soon his collection outgrew his candy emporium he opened a Civil War museum and later donated his collection to the Chicago Historical Society.

During Prohibition the sale, manufacture, and transportation of alcohol was banned nationally. In Chicago prohibition gave rise to mobsters, speakeasies, Jazz, and candy. Schlitz Brewery owned dozens of local Chicago taverns that were quickly converted into candy or soda shops. As bars closed, ice cream shops and confection parlors opened as places to socialize and imbibe sweets. Beer companies, unable to manufacture lager, turned to making chocolate and candy. Brewing ingredients like malt made its way into ice cream and candy popularizing malted milk balls. Americans turned from liquor and got their fix instead with confections.

WEST LOOP While the Blommer retail store is closing up shop next month, the sweet aroma of chocolate wafting through the West Loop and the surrounding area wont be going anywhere.

Earlier this week, the company announced it would be closing the Bloomer retail store at 600 W. Kinzie St. on Feb. 28, prompting residents to wonder about the chocolate smell that lingers in the air.

Stacey Kidd, a spokeswoman for the company, confirmed it would continue manufacturing chocolate at the site.

The smell will continue, Kidd said in an email.

The closing of the retail store will make way for an expansion of the facility.

Chicago Just Got A Little Sweeter

The Museum of Ice Cream, a fabulous wonderland for all things colorful, has just opened a fourth location in none other than Chicago, Illinois. The exciting new museum features 14 magical and interactive installations reimagined just for the Windy City and finally opened its doors on Saturday, July 16th.

Described on the Museum of Ice Cream website as a Willy Wonka factory come to life that you wont want to leave, the new Michigan Avenue location spans over 13,500 square feet of The Shops of Tribune Tower where the Chicago Tribune formerly resided.

Guests are invited on 60 to 90-minute tours through the many ice cream-themed features with breaks to sample various sweet treats between enjoying the installations.

An Instagram announcement posted late last year revealed the Chicago destination along with the question have you ever had an ice cream Chicago dog???!

A pink ice cream confection shaped like a Chicago-style hotdog was consequently expected to be one of the museums many Chicago references as well as a Cloud Gate-shaped jelly bean all of which have since been confirmed.

Meanwhile, a CTA-inspired pink Sprink-L takes guests into a 3,500-square-foot speakeasy where themed cocktails and snacks can be found. For those who love some competition, the Chicago location also houses a mini-golf course themed around giant desserts.

The Chicago location is the fourth after New York City, Singapore, and an Austin, Texas location which opened earlier this year.

What Is Charlie And The Chocolate Factory About

Willy Wonka is the most famous candy maker in the world, an eccentric confectioner whose sugary treats are works of genius. Yet he is a total recluse, and no one else in the world has ever stepped foot inside his famous chocolate factory. That is until a contest is announced – five golden tickets have been hidden away inside five Wonka chocolate bars, and whoever finds them will be led on a tour of the factory by the mysterious Mr. Wonka himself.

To find a golden ticket would be a dream come true for young Charlie Bucket, but given neither he or his grandparents who take care of him can afford a Wonka Bar, it seems an impossible one. But by a stroke of luck he finds some money on the floor, and rushing into the nearest shop, he buys a solitary Wonka bar and finds something gold glittering under the wrapper.

And so Charlie is one of the chosen few who steps into the chocolate factory, a realm of candy covered delights where nothing is quite as it seems.
