City Colleges Of Chicago Offers Eligible Students Free Training For Careers In High
City Colleges of Chicago is offering tuition-free training in high-demand fields for eligible students through Workforce Equity Initiative grants from the Illinois Community College Board and Illinois Legislative Black Caucus.
The grant funds will be used to offer students from low-income communities opportunities to earn industry-recognized credentials at no cost. Richard J. Daley College, Kennedy-King College, Olive-Harvey College, Malcolm X College, and Wilbur Wright College received the state funds.
We are grateful for the support of ICCB and the Illinois Legislative Black Caucus that is helping us create greater access and equitable outcomes for students across Chicago communities, said City Colleges of Chicago Chancellor Juan Salgado.
Eligible students can enroll in any one of the areas of study below and receive supportive services in addition to free tuition. Services and program specifics may vary by college, but generally include:
· Full tuition coverage throughout the duration of your studies· Job training and skills development· Childcare and transportation assistance· Employability skills development· Job placement assistance
Kennedy-King CollegeAt Kennedy-King College, qualifying students can enroll in tuition-free programs in the fields of automotive technology, construction technology, and cyber security and receive help finding a fulfilling job in less than one year through its WEI Scholars program.

CHICAGO To prepare Chicagoans to seize career opportunities in the post-COVID recovery, City Colleges of Chicago announces Future Ready, offering high-demand, short-term college programs at no cost to qualifying Chicagoans on a first-come, first-served basis this fall.
More often than not, students who are weighed down by significant socioeconomic burdens are kept away from opportunities to further their education and enter sustainable, good-paying careers, said Mayor Lori E. Lightfoot. I commend City Colleges for their phenomenal efforts to help alleviate these burdens and for finding ways to creatively support our residents as they chase after their academic and professional goals.
The time is now to get the education Chicagoans need to be a part of the COVID economic recovery, said Juan Salgado, Chancellor, City Colleges of Chicago. There is no better way to launch a career path than by taking advantage of City Colleges Future Ready program this fall.

City Colleges Of Chicago Offers Free Intro To Tech Courses Helping Chicagoans Upskill Completely Online As A New Cisco Networking Academy

These free courses include introductions to cybersecurity, social networking, Python programming, entrepreneurship and more deadline to register is May 9th
Registration is now open for free continuing education classes through City Colleges of Chicago, a new Cisco Networking Academy. The courses offered, which are completely online and self-directed, are Cybersecurity Essentials, NDG Linux Unhatched, Get Connected , PCAP: Programming Essentials in Python, Intro to Packet Tracer, Intro to the Internet of Things, and Entrepreneurship. During this unprecedented time, we want to make sure Chicagoans are still learning and gaining marketable skills that will serve them well in an ever more technology-focused job market. City Colleges is proud to be an official Cisco Networking Academy, and to bring these free classes to anyone who wants to lay a foundation for future tech studies and careers, said City Colleges Chancellor Juan Salgado.
These foundational courses are designed for individuals with limited or no background in IT, and will prepare participants to take more advanced Cisco Networking Academy courses. The courses vary in length from ten to seventy hours each, and students who successfully pass a course exam will receive a Cisco Course Certificate of Completion. A computer with internet connection is required to successfully complete these classes and courses must be completed by December 31, 2020.

Learn How Technology Works For You:
- Students will receive a direct payment of $200 to their student account upon successful completion of each class .
- Support services such as resume and job placement assistance, counseling, tutoring, and advising are available to all students.
- Students will be able to borrow a laptop if needed.
- Students will have the chance to earn industry-recognized certificates from organizations such as Lincoln Electric , Starrett , Snap-On , National Institute of Metalworking Skills , Amatrol, and the Smart Automation Certification Alliance , depending on their selected program.
Who Is Eligible For This Program
City Colleges will provide this free college opportunity for Chicago Public High School graduating seniors who meet these academic requirements:

Graduate from a CPS high school with a 3.0 or higher GPA

Enrolls in one of the City Colleges

Apply and enroll within one year from high school graduation
This includes undocumented students, international students, and students at CPS charter or option high schools.
