All Dogs Come From Heaven At A Glance
*Please note – we are in NO way associated with a group calling themselves Dog Rescues – we do not ship dogs, we do not ask for money in advance and our dogs are adoptable ONLY at our location in Amelia, OH. We DO NOT ask for funds or gift cards to be sent to us as a deposit and we have NO other locations. Our adoption application can ONLY be found on this page.
We are a 501c3 organization working to save dogs from kill shelters.
We strive to educate the public on proper care, the importance of training, and the long term commitment they are making to this animal.
Our small group of core volunteers works to pull dogs from county pounds all over the midwest. Many of these pounds do not receive adequate funding to care for the large number of dogs they receive.
Once we pull dogs from a shelter, we vet them, update all vaccines, do a heart-worm check, spay/neuter, and microchip. We also register the microchip. We treat monthly for fleas, and other parasites.
We employ trainers, both on and off site to work both with our dogs, and our adopters. Our goal is to insure that every pet is placed properly and permanently.
We also maintain an OUTREACH program through food donations. This program provides food for dogs of homeless individuals in the Greater Cincinnati area, as well as food to several of the needy county pounds in the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area.

Chicago Area Animal Shelters And Rescues
If you are looking for a pet, please try an animal shelter or rescue. Please call or check their website first and confirm the address, hours and adoption policies before going.
If you’ve lost a pet, call the animal shelters in your area. Some shelters will take information over the phone, some you may have to physically go to. In Chicago, call police precincts also. Make posters giving a description, date and the area where last seen. Post in grocery stores, train stations and parks where large numbers of people will see it. Contact local veterinary offices.
If youve found a pet or have a pet to re-home, please contact any shelter for their intake policies prior to bringing the pet there. Chicago Animal Care and Control is the only open-admission shelter in the area that will take in any animal immediately.
PLEASE CONTACT EACH ORGANIZATION DIRECTLY FOR POLICIES AND CURRENT HOURS

Paws And Claws To Open First Cat Adoption Center In Evanston
A cat adoption center is coming to Chicago Avenue in Evanston this spring thanks to Paws and Claws, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of dogs and cats in Chicagoland.
The center will be a first for Paws and Claws, which has worked since its inception in May 2020 through a foster system without an established home base. According to Founder and Executive Director Ashlynn Boyce, has saved over 900 animals through their approximate 120 foster homes across the northern Chicago area.
Well do whatever we need behaviorally and medically to rehabilitate them, Boyce said.
There are currently about 100 animals in the groups foster system.
Boyce has previously worked in animal welfare in endeavors where stray cats are captured, neutered and returned home to prevent increases in stray populations.
The group is majority volunteer run and focuses on cats that are traditionally overlooked such as black cats, undersocialized cats and those that are positive for feline immunodeficiency virus. The animals come from several places but most often are received from municipal shelters that are required to take in the animals that come to them and practice euthanasia when they reach capacity.
When theyre full and theyre forced to make life or death decisions, we are able to step in and take animals out of their care so theyre not forced to make those tough choices, Boyce said.

Franklin The Kitten Who Could

Franklin was a vulnerable neonate kitten that was born with his umbilical cord wrapped around his back leg. Our vet team had to amputate a portion of his leg in order for him to his health. Franklin got the care he needed at our clinic, as well as a temporary stay at one of our foster’s home to allow him the chance to learn how navigate the house and get along with other cats. This little fighter gets around just fine on three legs! Franklin was adopted and he loves his new dad and feline siblings.
In the Chicago area, kitten season typically starts in the spring and lasts through the fall. Female cats reproductive systems take a cue from the weather and usually start mating and birthing kittens in March and April. Because there is such a large population of feral cats in Chicago, many kittens are born outdoors and brought into The Anti-Cruelty Society.
Your donation will help us take care of the many kittens that will enter our doors this kitten season, as well as support kittens like Franklin to live a better life with an adoptive family. Donate today to make a difference during kitten season!
We appreciate your generous gift to The Anti-Cruelty Society.

Dogs Available For Adoption In Chicago
When looking at the makeup of American families today, it’s rare to see a home where a pet isn’t part of the family. According to the most recent data from the APPA National Pet Owners Survey, 67% of households, or around 85 million homes, own a pet. Of these households, dogs and cats top the list of most popular pets, with 63.4 million and 42.7 million households owning dogs and cats, respectively.
In exploring the history of animal shelters and rescue organizations in the country, nothing proves as problematic as the lack of a centralized reporting system to collect data on these organizations. Most of the shelter statistics that are available and accepted today are estimates based on several period surveys, including the aforementioned APPA National Pet Owners Survey along with the AVMA U.S. Pet Ownership & Demographics Sourcebook. Without a nationally codified and streamlined process for collecting, organizing, and reporting on shelter data, there has been a grave lack of transparency around the country’s shelters. That makes it difficult not only to pinpoint accurate statistics regarding sheltered animals in America but also to understand the true state of animal welfare in the country, which is the first step to improving that welfare.
Without further ado, here are adoptable dogs in your home city.
