Communities In Schools of Lake County is a proud partner of School City of East Chicago. CISLC is a nationally recognized dropout prevention organization that works in – house at E.C. Central High School. We provide students with integrated services in an effort to help achieve an overall goal of students graduating and achieving success in life. Among the list of services offered by CISLC is Credit Recovery. Credit Recovery is designed to assist students to get on track in hopes of earning their credits and graduating on time. CISLC also offers after-school tutoring and homework help through the Youth P.L.U.S. program. Youth P.L.U.S. is Monday-Thursday from 3:15-5:15. It is designed for students to receive academic assistance in various subject areas. Students are encouraged to participate at least twice a week. Furthermore, students that are interested in learning more about college and preparing for college would be interested in Charting For Success, a college preparedness program offered by CISLC. Update: Virtual Classes Extended To Monday 1 Child In Custody Following East Chicago Central High School Threat
EAST CHICAGO One child has been taken into police custody after a threat against East Chicago Central High School was made late Wednesday night.
Police and officials confirmed there is no pending threat against East Chicago schools.
The School City of East Chicago said that e-learning has been extended through Monday to accommodate district-wide safety training and to allow time to alleviate any safety concerns from students’ families.
The School City of East Chicago would like to thank the East Chicago Police Department for their swift actions to investigate the recent false social media threats,” said Interim Superintendent Dr. Steven Disney. “Based upon the conclusions of the investigation, the School City of East Chicago will process any and all students as recommended from the findings.”
“The School City of East Chicago would like to thank our school safety team, parents and staff for all their cooperation and assistance,” Disney continued in a written statement to The Times. “The School City of East Chicago is facilitating additional and expansive professional development and safety training for all staff on Friday and Monday.
The juvenile, whose identity has not been released due to age, and the juvenile’s guardians were interviewed early Thursday afternoon by authorities with East Chicago’s Criminal Investigation Division, said East Chicago Deputy Chief Jose Rivera.
Ihsa Basketball State Championship
The first state title for the Central Cardinals was the 2007 Class 4A IHSAA State Championship over North Central High School by a final score of 87-83, being led by now current Phoenix Suns point guard ETwaun Moore. Moore finished with 28 points on 10 of 17 shooting from the field, including shooting 3 of 6 from 3-point range, and making 5 of 7 free throw attempts. He also had five rebounds.
