John started the show with the classic ‘Bennie and the Jets’ in a sparkly suit coat. The whole night, John was accompanied by a six-piece band that hopped through all variations of his style. The set was similar to the first leg of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour but there were a few changes.
His set consisted of the hits ‘Tiny Dancer, ‘Rocket Man’, ‘Still Standing’, and ‘Crocodile Rock’ even made the list. Each song was paired with a video featuring either still pictures, animations, or choreographed snippets. The night also included multiple costume changes. After Candle In The Wind, the stage cut to fog and a thunderstorm for a costume change. John returned in a pink checkered suit coat. The tempo slowed down for this portion of the show only to build back up for the last four songs. For the encores, he changed into a dazzling shiny robe.
One constant throughout the night was the United Center crowd singing along the entire time. The set lasted 2.5 hours consisting of 22 songs and the energy was out of this world. After every song, John would slam his piano lid and emphatically point like he was congratulating his fans for singing through the song and just being there to share the moment.

Friday night featured Elton John’s first of back-to-back shows at the United Center in Chicago. John is on his second pass through Chicago during his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour. This two-night affair marks his first trek through Chicago since the COVID-19 pandemic.
Leading up to Friday night, John had just overcome catching COVID-19 a couple of weeks ago. The Chicago shows were in jeopardy of cancellation but luckily the only performances nixed were his Dallas shows. LOS ANGELES Elton Johns audacious 1970 U.S. debut moved a critic to declare that the slight young Englishman would become one of rocks most important stars. It didnt take long.
Within five years, his reputation cemented by a string of hits including Rocket Man and Daniel, fans packed L.A.s Dodger Stadium for two rousing, sequin-bedecked concerts. This weekend, John will close out the North American leg of his last tour at the ballpark.
He calls it the right choice.
I started off in Los Angeles at the Troubadour , and I want it to end here because its been a magical place for me, John said in an interview. The three-night stand began Thursday and continues Saturday and Sunday.
The final L.A. concert will be streamed live Sunday on Disney+ starting at 10 p.m. Chicago time. The three-hour event will open with Countdown to Elton Live, which includes an interview with John and celebrity shout-outs.
John, 75, promised more bells and whistles than at the tours other concerts but hopefully without any elephants or giraffes coming on stage, he said, a wry reference to The Lion King. The Tony-winning hit musical with songs by John and Tim Rice is now playing at Chicagos Cadillac Palace Theatre and marks its 25th anniversary on Broadway this month.
The stadium stage is enormous and fantastic. The videos are wonderful. I like to be surprised, so I will be surprised, John said.

Chicago Bears Move In
Before they moved into the stadium, the Chicago Bears had played select charity games at Soldier Field as early as 1926, when they played their former crosstown rivals, the Chicago Cardinals. The Cardinals also used the stadium as their home field for their final season in the city in 1959.
In 1971, the Bears moved into Soldier Field full-time, originally with a three-year commitment. The team previously played home games at Wrigley Field, the home stadium of the Chicago Cubs of Major League Baseball , but were forced to move to a larger venue due to post-AFLNFL merger policies requiring that stadium capacities seat at least 50,000 spectators. The Bears had initially intended to build a stadium in Arlington Heights, but the property did not fit the league’s specifications.
On September 19, 1971, the Bears played their first home game at Soldier Field, in which they defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers 1715. In 1978, the Bears and the Chicago Park District agreed to a 20-year lease and renovation of the stadium both parties pooled their resources for the renovation. The playing surface was AstroTurf from 1971 until 1987, and was replaced with natural grass in 1988. On February 27, 1987, Soldier Field was designated a National Historic Landmark.

Elton John 2022 Tour at North American show will take place Jan. 19 at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans.
