In December, Hawaiian Airlines announced three new non-stop routes to Hawaii from the mainland.
Now, one of its competitors, United Airlines, is following up with its own flurry of new non-stop flights.
Heres whats happening as we dream of better days ahead in travel:
Nonstop flight between Orange County and Honolulu.
Beginning May 6th, United will give L.A. yet another option for getting to Hawaii with a direct from Orange County to Honolulu on Oahu.
The flight will operate daily, departing Orange County at 8:30 a.m. and arriving in Honolulu at 11:30 a.m. local time.
Direct service between Chicago and Kona .
Starting on June 3rd, United will offer a nonstop flight between Chicago and Kona on Hawaii Island.
Now that the Kilauea Volcano is erupting again, demand for the Big Island is expected to increase this summer .

United Airlines will use a Boeing 767-300 for the route. The airline has scheduled an old configuration 767-300 for the route, featuring a total of 214 seats, including 30 business class seats, 49 Economy Plus seats, and 135 regular economy seats.
United will fly 767-300s between Newark and Maui
I guess this isnt surprising, though I could have also seen a world in which United used one of its super-premium 767s for the route, featuring 46 new Polaris seats, as well as a Premium Plus cabin with 22 seats.
