Hoax Turned Real Man Tells Chicago Ridge Police He Was Pricked By Needle Attached To Gas Pump Handle
Its long been an urban legend, but Chicago Ridge police this week are investigating a report that a man was pricked by a needle when he grabbed a gas pump.
Police say the man reported being punctured by a needle affixed to the trigger of a gas pump nozzle shortly after 7 p.m. Monday at a Chicago Ridge gas station. It reportedly happened at the Shell station near the intersection of 111th Street and Ridgeland Avenue when he felt a needle poke his finger, according to . At the base of the needle, which had been stuck to the gas nozzle trigger with an adhesive, there was an unknown white powder, it said.
According to Chicago Ridges Deputy police Chief Jim Jarolimek, this is a very bizarre, very strange occurrence and police have been unable to find other similar incidents. This is the first time this has happened in Chicago Ridge, said Jarolimek.
The man pricked by the needle is a Chicago Ridge resident and was brought to a hospital and evaluated, but he wasnt suffering any symptoms of exposure, authorities said.
Chicago Ridge police are working with the Illinois State Police Crime Lab to analyze the evidence collected. Police are trying to identify the needle, which is small and obviously not a syringe, said Jarolimek. The white substance had not been identified as of Wednesday.

Chicago mayoral candidate Willie Wilson’s gas giveaways continue, with discounts for seniors available at 15 gas station locations.
CHICAGO — Chicago mayoral candidate Willie Wilson will be picking up the tab for some gasoline Thursday.
Seniors will get discounts at 15 gas stations in the city and suburbs. Cars have been seen lining up at some stations as early as 5 a.m.
He said 15 stations will lower their prices to $2 a gallon.
On Wednesday, Wilson partnered with 29 grocery stores to hand out $25 gift cards to customers.

ENGLEWOOD Frustrated neighbors pushed back against a proposal this week to bring a gas station to a long-vacant lot in Englewood.
But potential investors questioned: If not a gas station, then what?
Mohammed Abdallah, who owns several gas stations throughout the city, pitched neighbors at a Wednesday night meeting about building a station at 6700 S. Halsted St.
Abdallah and the Rev. John Harrell, who are business partners, said the station would hire employees from the area and reinvest some profits into the community. Abdallah said hes used money from his 11 gas stations to host back-to-school drives and award a scholarship to a college-bound student.

CHICAGO Willie Wilson is expanding his gas giveaway to $1 million on March 24, after his first giveaway caused traffic delays due to a mass amount of cars trying to get free fuel.
On Thursday, Wilson gave away $200,000 in fuel at 10 different gas stations throughout the city. The giveaway started at 7 a.m., but cars lined up hours earlier for a chance to get $50 in free gas. The giveaway continued until the money was exhausted which took about three hours.
Some vehicles started lining up around 2 a.m. at some locations, eventually causing gridlock during the morning commute.
Wilson at the time said he wished he had offered more money to help even more people. The next day, he announced that he would be doing the giveaway for a second time this time increasing his donation.
On Thursday, March 24 beginning at 7 a.m., Chicagoans and suburban residents will have the chance to get free fuel at nearly 50 gas stations throughout the area. The same rule applies $50 per person until the money runs out.
However, unlike last time, vehicles will not be allowed to line up overnight. Drivers will be allowed to get their place in line starting at 6:30 a.m.
Each gas station will allow 400 cars between 7 a.m. to around 10:30 a.m. to get their free gas. Each driver that shows up will get a sticker that indicates a position in line. The sticker is required to get free fuel.

ENON, Ohio Speedway has put 166 former Speedway, SuperAmerica, Hess and Tesoro gas station sites and parcels of undeveloped land in 22 states up for sale. One hundred of the sites and properties are in Indiana, Michigan and Ohio, and 66 are in Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Wisconsin and West Virginia.
Speedway has retained NRC Realty & Capital Advisors LLC, Chicago, to coordinate the sale, NRC is selling the properties individually, as-is where-is with all faults condition, through a sealed bid auction with no minimum bid limit. The bid deadline is Sept. 30.

After Chicago businessman and philanthropist Willie Wilson gave away gasoline to residents at various stations throughout the city this week, causing long lines and vehicular chaos, Wilson announced that he will give away fuel again and that this time he will increase the amount from $200,000 to $1 million.
Wilson said he will coordinate gas deliveries with 50 stall owners and offer drivers free gas until $1 million is spent.
Each vehicle will get up to $50 and participating gas stations will lower their prices during the event, which is scheduled to start at 7 a.m. on Thursday, March 24.
The Car Was Later Found In The West Woodlawn Neighborhood About 11 Miles Away And It Was Not Known If The Carjacker Was Hit According To Chicago Police
A woman was carjacked Tuesday at a gas station in the 600 block of North LaSalle Street, authorities say.

A security guard fired shots at a fleeing carjacker at a River North gas station Tuesday evening.
The car was later found in the West Woodlawn neighborhood about 11 miles away and it was not known if the carjacker was shot, according to Chicago police.
The attack happened around 6:40 p.m. as a woman, 34, was getting gas in the 600 block of North LaSalle Street, police said. Someone jumped into her car and sped off.
The woman was hit in the left knee by the drivers side door that was still open when the carjacker took off, police said. She declined medical treatment.
The guard at the station fired several shots. Police said he had a valid Firearm Owners Identification card.
The car was recovered in the 6600 block of South Champlain Avenue, police said.
No one was in custody.

CHICAGO — Chicago area drivers have another chance at up to $50 of free gas on Thursday, as businessman and philanthropist Willie Wilson has organized a $1 million gas giveaway at nearly 50 gas stations in the city and suburbs.
It comes one week after Wilson, a former mayoral candidate, teamed up with 10 Chicago gas stations to give away $200,000 in free gas, causing huge traffic backups, as hundreds of drivers lined up to fill their tanks.
Many people tried to cut the line — resulting in police, at one point, closing a gas station temporarily.
Thursday’s gas giveaway will start at 7 a.m. at nearly 50 local gas stations. The rules are simple. Pull up to a participating gas station, and fill up your tank with up to $50 worth of gas.
The giveaway will last until the $1 million cap is hit.

Wilson wrote about the free gas on Facebook and provided a list of stations:
Tomorrow, Thursday, March 17, 2022, we are donating $200,000 worth of gas to alleviate some of the pain that Chicagoans are experiencing because of the highest fuel prices in 14 years. Additionally, participating gas stations will be lowering their per gallon prices to serve more vehicles.
Participating gas stations will be giving away free gas on March 17th at starting at 7:00am until the $200,000 is exhausted.

According to ABC7, Gas station owners Khalil Abdullah and Amin Ibrahim are planning to lower their prices during the same time frame.
As gas station owners we decided to lower our gasoline prices during Dr. Wilsons gas giveaway in an effort to allow more cars to benefit from Dr. Wilsons generosity, Abdullah said to the television station.
Block Club Chicago reported that each driver will get $50 of gas.
