History of the Majestic Building The Hampton Majestic Chicago Theater District occupies 17 total floors of the former Majestic Office Building. The hotel includes 15 guestroom floors with 9 rooms per floor and creates an intimate ambiance for quiet accommodations.
A rich and storied past surrounds the Hampton Majestic. Prior to the buildings construction in 1905, the Newport Hotel & Gambling House occupied the same real estate until that 4 story structure was razed in 1904. The gambling house was shut down by the famous Pinkerton Detective Agency, during the era Chicago was cracking down on gambling.
Then in 1904, one of the most famous architects of the era, Edward Krause of Rapp & Rapp, was retained to design the Majestic Office Building & Theater. Some other imaginative works include the Chicago Theater, Cadillac Palace Theater, James M. Nederlander Theatre and numerous other landmarks from around Chicago from the 1900s.

Part of the Hampton Inn chain of hotels, this Chicago property is located in the Majestic Building, which dates back to 1906and at one time was the tallest building in Chicago. It has beautiful stoneartwork and was created as the home of the Majestic Theater, now known as theBank of America Theater, which hosted the likes of Harry Houdini and currentlypresents Broadway shows and musical acts. The hotel itself begins on the 4th floor of the building. The lobby is small and somewhat cramped with an open-plan design that combines the front desk area with the breakfast room. Decor is amix of contemporary style paired with details that hark back to its theater history, including production posters and photographs adorning the walls. Marble walls and tile floors in creamy hues lend a posh touch, while the orange accents of the front desk liven up the neutral hues of the breakfast area beside it. Guests are mostly couples and familiescongregating at breakfast, however, the downtown location attracts asignificant number of business travelers as well.

Spacious Rooms With Flat
Rooms feature a pleasant, if a touch dated, orange-and-brown color scheme with tangerine and cream-colored walls paired with matching curtains and patterned brown carpets. Rooms are spacious and include flat-screen TVs, coffeemakers, work desks, and laptop lap desks. Microwaves and mini-fridgescan be added to the rooms for a fee, if available. Most rooms have beige armchairs, while some King Rooms offer pullout sofas. Bathrooms, which are quite large, maintain the orange and tan color scheme and offer a significant amount of counter space and shower/tub combos. The three-star hotel is even pricier than nearby luxuryfour-diamond options, like the Kimpton Gray or Hotel Blake. If youre touring the city with your family, chances are youll be checking out some of the sites near the Hamptons central location. The hotel is home to the CIBC Theatre, which hosts the citys hottest Broadway musicals. In fact, the hotel has its own entrance to the theatre. While the price of the Hampton is more expensive than others in the area, its central location walking distance to Millennium Park, the Art Institute and the Field Museum will save on cab or metro fare for a group. Plus, the free hot breakfast offers a substantial savings to feed a family. Plus, if youre bringing kids along, the Hampton offers cribs and highchairs upon request.
