Home Run Inn Recalls 13000 Pounds Of Frozen Pizza After Metal Complaints

Home Run Inn is recalling more than 13,000 pounds of frozen meat pizza after consumer complaints of metal in the Chicago-style pies, federal food safety officials said on Sunday.

The recall involves Home Run Inn Chicago’s Premium Pizzeria Deluxe Sausage Classic Pizza made on June 6, 2022, with a best-by date of December 3, 2022, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service.

The frozen pizzas came in 33.5-ounce cartons with the establishment number “EST. 18498-A” inside the USDA mark of inspection, the notice stated. The products were shipped to a distributor in Illinois and then distributed to retailers.

The problem was discovered when the Woodbridge, Illinois-based company “notified FSIS that it had received consumer complaints reporting metal was found in the pizza,” the agency stated.

“FSIS is concerned that some product may be in consumers’ freezers or found at distributor and retail locations,” it said. The agency urged people not to eat the pizzas and instead to discard or return them.

The agency said there have been no confirmed reports of injuries or adverse reactions due to eating the recalled pizzas.

Home Run Inn, a family-owned and operated establishment with nine restaurants, sell its frozen pizza in more than 35 states. Home Run Inn started in 1923 as a small tavern on Chicago’s South Side, according to the company.

Chicagos Biggest Restaurant Group Partners With Doordash On New Ordering Platform

Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises, known to many as Chicagos largest restaurant group, has signed on to a new partnership with third-party delivery giant DoorDash to introduce the app companys new online ordering platform to diners, according to a rep. Dubbed Storefront, the platform is designed to allow restaurants to create their own ordering system for patrons to place takeout and delivery orders. Diners can also accrue loyalty points and redeem them when placing orders online. However one may feel about DoorDash, currently embroiled in a lawsuit with the city of Chicago over allegations that it used deceptive practices to prey on its affiliated restaurants, the partnership with LEYE is likely a bellwether for future entanglements between the tech and hospitality industries. LEYE also forged a strong tie with DoorDash rival Grubhub before the pandemic in March 2020, so it appears the company is open to a variety of business arrangements.

Chicago’s premium pizzeria. Est. 1947. Made from scratch. No preservatives. All natural . After the winning run from a nearby baseball game shattered their front window in 1923, my grandparents decided to name their Chicago tavern Home Run Inn. Together, in 1947, my father, Nick Perrino, and my grandmother, Mary Grittani created our legendary pizza recipe as it is known today. By the late 1970’s, we had become one of the first iconic pizzerias in Chicago. In hopes of better serving our loyal customers, we began preparing frozen pizzas in our own unique way. Chicago’s Home Run Inn Frozen Pizza Review

#2,043Restaurants in Chicago

Probably the worst pizza I have eaten in ten years. Crust was undercooked, cheese tasted vegan. I ordered the veggie and added bacon. So bad.

We have now waited an HOUR and still noPizza! Two servers is the excuse- seating hostess could be helping but yet she does NOTHING! This is the poorest experience Ive ever had ANYWHERE. Servers look at you and keep walking! If youre unable to…keep up- dont bother to open the dining room at all!More

Sorry to hear that. We would love to discuss with you further. Please send us a DM at hello@homeruninn.com.

Touted as traditional Chicago Pizza, we found it boring and greasy. Toppings were okay, crust was not good. Two 8 personal pizzas for $30 wasnt endearing either. We wont be back.

Thank you for your feedback. Please send us an email at hello@homeruinn.com so we can talk to you regarding your visit. We want to make sure you have a 5-star experience each and every time come in. 🙂

I had a small cheese pizza which was tasty and had a nice crust with delicious flavour. The pizza was cooked perfect. It was light on the tomato sauce but maybe that’s just my taste…I like a ample amount on my pizza!

So glad to hear you enjoyed your cheese pizza, Mark! We appreciate you taking the time to give us your feedback. We are very glad to hear you really enjoy HRI, and we are happy to have you as a customer.
