I loved touring the Fredrick Robie House and seeing some of the University of Chicago. Liked going to the NeaderlanderTheatre. Loved the food at the Cheesecake Factory, especially, the Cheesecake!We also liked Giordano’s Pizza. Having a Starbuck’s and Stan’s Donuts on the corners was really convenient. We used the Brownline the 1st day to downtown when we should of used the redline and had to walk a few miles in 90° heat. 3 of the 4 of us old ladies were about to pass out. Used Uber the rest of the trip and it was great.

I Had 3 Days There In June With My Husband Before I Joined A
I had 3 days there in June with my husband before I joined a conference and we had the best time. Downtown Chicago is beautiful. The architecture boat tours are not to be missed, sounds odd I know, but really worth it! I visited the aquarium, which is very nice and has a great patio to eat on with wonderful views of the city and the water, and the food on sale is not bad at all, not pure junk. The science museum is very good I recommend the flight simulator, super fun, and go visit the U boat even if you don’t pay to go in it, it is an amazing display. There is one small cafe that closes early and then only vending food for sale and no restos near by so take a picnic. I wouldn’t bother with the Pier, it was hot and crowded and the rides are expensive . The restos in Chicago are plentiful and varied in taste, something for everyone. Many hotels have a roof bar which are great to hang on, and check out the FEVER site for small music events on these we saw a jazz group, great evening event and nice and low key. There are gigs everywhere if you look for them. Beware UBER there, the cab drivers are doing both but the UBER fixed fare is more expensive than the meter, almost double the fare!! The buses are good, cheap and frequent and not scary at all. The downtown center has a really fun vibe, you can walk for miles along the water and through parks, or take the water taxi. I will definitely go back in a few years.
