Celebrate The 4th Of July
Celebrate the 4th of July in Chicago as the city honors this country with a day full of American classics, concerts, and spectacular firework shows at 9:00 pm shooting off from Navy Pier.
The annual tradition of a concert with patriotic anthems and marches to celebrate the nations birthday continues as a part of the Grant Park Music Festival with Independence Day Salute, held in Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park.
It is being held a few days early in 2022, on July 2nd at at 6:30 PM.
For music the day-of, try Navy Pier and Live on the Lake, a free concert series scheduled to run between 1:00 PM and 9:00 PM on July 4th.
After the concert, you can catch one of Navy Piers best firework displays of the summer, with patriotic music in the background.

In this class, you will be learning basic stitching techniques eg. how to thread sewing machines and wind a bobbin. This beginner class series will enable you to confidently use a sewing machine, even if you have never used one before.
Students will learn & develop foundational skills by creating fundamental seams and finishes, which are used in modern-day garment construction.
This class is taught as an instructional class. You will be walked through all the techniques, step by step, as a small group.
Optional: Bring Your Own **Straight Stitch Sewing Machine – you will be directed on how to use it, and better understand the opportunities your specific machine offers you!
We will also have straight stitch machines for your use as well. Students that do not bring their own sewing machines will take turns completing their assignment on the available machines at our space. The large space on the 3rd Level will ensure that our social distancing protocol is still followed. You must follow all regulations by wearing a face mask at all times and using sanitizer to wipe down your space after every use.

Millennium Park And The Chicago Athletic Association
On July 2, nab a spot in the back of the lawn by the Jay Pritzker Pavilion for Grant Park Music Festivals Independence Day Salute. From 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., the Grant Park Orchestra will perform an array of patriotic works, including Liberty Fanfare, I Hear America Singing, and America the Beautiful.
For an exclusive viewing experience, gather with friends at any number of hotels with balconies, rooftops, or lake views. Our favorite is the Chicago Athletic Association, if only for its front-door access to Millennium Park and rooftop terrace bar, Cindys, where hotel guests can use their keycard to skip the line.
Multiple 4th Of July Events Canceled In Chicago After Shooting At Parade

LINCOLN, Neb. Multiple people were shot along a parade route in north Chicago on Monday morning, sources for ABC said.
The shooter was reported to still be active just after 11 a.m. Illinois State Police are still considering the shooting an active shoot situation as of 11:25.
A Chicago Sun-Times reporter saw five people wounded and blankets covering three bloodied bodies near the parades reviewing stand. Several witnesses said they heard multiple shots fired. One witness said he counted more than 20 shots.

Multiple Chicago suburbs on Monday announced they would be canceling their Fourth of July events after a mass shooting in Highland Park, Ill., left at least six people dead and many more injured.
Evanston, Morton Grove, Deerfield, Glenview and Glencoe all announced they were canceling their scheduled events after the Independence Day shooting.
Due to a tragic mass shooting that took place earlier this morning in Highland Park, the Evanston will be canceling this years 4th of July Parade & celebrations effective immediately, the municipalitys police department tweeted.
Out of an abundance of caution amid the developing situation, the Morton Grove Days 2022 parade has been cancelled, the Morton Grove Police Department said in a statement issued through Twitter.
The Glenview Police Department and Village of Glencoe both acknowledged in statements on Twitter that there were no incidents or direct threats to either area but would be forgoing their events anyway.
Due to a shooting in Highland Park, Family Days activities at Jewett Park have been cleared and the parade is canceled. Please share that the parade activities are canceled with your family and friends, the Village of Deerfield tweeted.
