Lettuce Entertain You Restaurants

What is your favorite Lettuce Entertain you Restaurant?

It depends on what you are looking for?

If you are looking for an expensive evening out, Everest and Tru can’t be beat.

If you are looking for a casual evening out for a special event, Wildfire and Maggiano’s are good

For casual Wisconsin fare, try L. Woods or for an Asian flare try Big Bowl. Even more casual is the Corner Baker for a typical lunch time fare.

I have seen a few posts a now I am curious. What is Lettuce Entertain you Restaurants? Is it something we should do while we are in Chicago with our younger year teenagers??

They love Kobe’s . . . will it be like that?

I have no idea what Kobe’s is.

But Lettuce Entertain You is just the name of a restaurant company.

they have resturants from coast to coast. Actually in Las Vegas Eiffel Tower and Mon Ami Gabi are considered 2 of the finest restaurants.

But chicago is where it started. They have upscale restaurants and lower end restaurants.

its not like a chuck e cheese. if that is what you are thinking. whith the name “Lettuce Entertain You”

look at the web site.

you can see a list of restaurants.

Actually Shaw’s Crab House is my favorite restaurant in chicago.

I also like Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba for a great fun chicago experience.

Lettuce Entertain You Restaurants is a management company, and they manage some of the best restaurants in the city .

Great. Now I’m hungry. čÖé

I have no idea what Kobe’s is.

there is a Benihana downtown

The Eccentric Oprahs Restaurant

159 W. Erie St., Chicago

Original Chicago Tribune review:

The Eccentric does a superior job with side dishes. Just about everybody feels compelled to sample a dish of Oprahs potatoes, chunky mashed potatoes spiced with a bit of horseradish. Everyone seems to enjoy them, but whether its because freshly mashed potatoes have become so rare or because the potato-horseradish combination is really so special or because theyre the menus sole reference to the celebrity is anyones guess.

Status: Closed. A Wildfire Restaurant is now in that location.

Original Chicago Tribune review:

The concept is crabshack and barbecue, a pair of fares that dont normally go together. But Bub City, a creation of Richard Melman and company, gets the idea across, an idea which is altogether down home.

Status: Now open in River North and Rosemont.

516 N. Clark St., Chicago

Original Chicago Tribune review:

Its not that the food is bad. It just isnt very exciting. This is, after all, the Italian food most of us grew up with, and Maggianos extremely faithful versions of these dishes, though capable, are less than inspiring. On the other hand, for those who tire of Italian-language menus with scant English explanation, dining at Maggianos is to spend an evening in comfortably familiar surroundings. And you mom, who despairs of ever finding manicotti on a downtown menu again? Bring her along.

Status: Concept later sold to Brinker International.

Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises: Restaurant Group Of The Year

Over the past several years, Chicago has become a city of restaurant group empires. From Hogsalt and One Off Hospitality to Land and Sea Dept., Boka Restaurant Group, and Gibsons, the citys dining scene is dominated by these prominent collectives routinely churning out crowd-pleasing hot spots. Perhaps the earliest progenitor of this landscape is Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises, Chicagos homegrown dining domain thats been in existence long before Girl & the Goat became impossible to get into, before Paul McGee dazzled drinkers with Lost Lake, and before Au Cheval commanded three-hour wait times for burgers. Lettuce Entertain You may be the O. G., but this year its also proven that the original is still the best, with some of best and most impressive openings hailing from this empire. It just goes to show that despite its enduring age, Lettuce never fails to amaze, and its just as red-hot as ever.

In the past year or so, Lettuce has spawned significant openings, ranging from Oyster Bah and il Porcellino to Naoki Sushi and of course Intro. Theyve expanded both Beatrix and Bub City to second locations , hired Stephen Gillanders as Intros first executive chef, planned a Mediterranean restaurant with new Chicago resident CJ Jacobson, and brought on Julian Cox as beverage director, a big get for the company considering he was one of the most renowned mixologists in Los Angeles prior to moving here.

Lettuce Entertain You Bringing Big Bowl To Glen

City announces new RPM on the Water restaurant complex on riverfront

By Tom Robb | on December 22, 2021

Rendering of the planned Lettuce Entertain You Big Bowl planned for the Glen in 2022 near Wildfire and Jewel-Osco.

A new Lettuce Entertain You restaurant, Big Bowl, is expected to open next year in Glenview.

The new restaurant is expected to open near Wildfire and Jewel-Osco in The Glen in the fourth quarter of 2022.

The restaurant would stand on what is now a vacant lot at 1320 Patriot Blvd. near the grocery store and Wildfire, another Lettuce Entertain You establishment.

Village trustees gave developers the green light to move forward with construction of the restaurant building last month.

Lettuce Entertain You operates six Big Bowl restaurants, serving Chinese and Thai cuisine, in Chicagos River North, Schaumburg and Lincolnshire, along with three in Minnesota.

The new restaurant building would have a floor area of 6,775 sq. ft. including 209 indoor and outdoor seats, on a nearly 49,000 sq. ft. lot, a village report says.

Plans show a one-story restaurant with a brick exterior facade, high ceilings, bay windows, skylights and a screened-in porch.

The parking lot is adequate to handle the increased lunch and dinner traffic. During a recent village board meeting, project managers said, as Big Bowl and Wildfire have the same ownership, any parking or other issues would be better coordinated.

Village trustees and reports also discuss landscaping, stormwater issues, signage and building features.

Three Dots And A Dash

435 N. Clark St., Chicago

Original Chicago Tribune review:

Three Dots has fun where appropriate with kooky mugs and a Beach Boys-esque soundtrack but treats its drinks with reverence and precision. Dont be surprised if you stop in intending only to have one drink and end the night hours later having consumed enough rum to sink Jack Sparrow.

Status: Open.

Ed Debevics Short Order Deluxe

640 N. Wells St., Chicago

Original Chicago Tribune review:

Despite the cacophony of conversation, songs from the 50s and 60s could be heard in the background. Many partygoers were lip-syncing the familiar tunes while savoring hamburgers, cheese fries, chili, onion rings and tuna salad sandwiches. Fountain drinks such as green rivers, cherry Cokes, cream sodas and black cows were just as popular as Eds beer, aged in its bottle, and wine. It was a toss-up as to whether there were more patrons bellying up to the bar or to the bowling machine.

Status: Slated to reopen soon.

Original Chicago Tribune review:

Hat Dance does serve food. However, like the decor, the food plays a supporting rather than starring role in the human drama of the restaurant.

Status: Closed.

The 50 Best Restaurants

Chicagos essential destinations, from haute tasting menus to inventive street food

Number 18: Everest

Whether you consider it a relic, a civic treasure, or a mixture of both, theres no denying that Everest is the last of its breed. Despite small efforts to lighten it up over its 32 yearsgoodbye, animal-print walls and leopard-spot carpetJean Johos grand love letter to Alsace on the 40th floor of the Chicago Stock Exchange will forever feel adamantly rooted in the 80s. The traditions surrounding the place have solidified into lorethe multiple elevator rides, the wall of windows flaunting a twinkling cityscape view, the unabashedly Alsatian-focused wine list. So have the intricate foie gras preparations, the impeccable souffl├ęs, and now-mythical creations such as the shirred eggs with osetra caviar in the shell, or the roasted Maine lobster in a mix of Gew├╝rztraminer butter and ginger. The Zen-calm, unflappable servers still somehow manage to bring a sense of fun to the rooms hushed reverence. Everest may be among the oldest restaurants in this guide, but it stands as proof that there is still a place in Chicago for this lofty brand of special-occasion dining.

Lettuce Entertain You Revives Long

How To Beatrix

Lots of restaurants are creating new, virtual concepts out of their kitchens during the pandemic.

But multi-concept operator Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises , which has been in business for 50 years, is spinning new, virtual concepts out of old ones.

In recent months, the Chicago-based restaurant group has launched several virtual brands out of existing kitchens, reviving old concepts that closed years ago.

During the last year, all ideas were on the table, said Bill Nevruz, a LEYE partner and divisional president. We explored a lot of ideas to keep the business going and keep sales going and keep as many people as we could employed.

One of those resurrected restaurants is Vongs Thai Kitchen, a concept created in partnership with Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten that operated in Chicago in the early 2000s.

The executive chef of that restaurant is now the head chef at LEYEs Shaws Crab House and, coincidentally, Nevruzs wife was the general manager at Vongs for many years.

I knew I had someone who absolutely could do that food better than anyone, Nevruz said. He learned that cuisine from Jean-Georges.

Since June, LEYE has offered a limited menu of Vongs Thai Kitchen dishes out of its Shaws kitchen. The menu was optimized to not put a huge strain on Shaws operations, he said, while also taking advantage of Shaws extensive seafood inventory.

In re-imaging Vongs, Nevruz was nervous he might steal business from Shaws.
