Rd Quarter: Fields 1st Nfl Td Cuts Bears Deficit To 20
Rookie quarterback Justin Fields scored his first NFL touchdown on a 3-yard run with 4:14 to play in the third quarter to cut the Rams lead to 20-14.
Fields appeared in two plays in the 16-play, 81-yard drive. Andy Dalton led most of the march, including hitting Jimmy Graham with an 11-yard pass one play earlier to get the Bears to the 3-yard line.
Bears rookie left tackle Larry Borom, playing in his first series in place of Jason Peters, left the field slowly after trainers looked at his left leg late in the drive. Elijah Wilkinson became the third Bears left tackle to play in the game.

Matthew Stafford Passed For 321 Yards And Three Touchdowns In A Dynamic Debut With His New Team Leading The Los Angeles Rams Past Andy Dalton And The Chicago Bears For A 34
The Canadian Press
INGLEWOOD, Calif. Matthew Stafford’s second pass for the Los Angeles Rams traveled 53 majestic yards through the air and dropped right into the hands of Van Jefferson, who fell down untouched, stood up and scored.
The Rams have bet their future on Stafford being the key to turning a good team into a great one.
With a dynamic debut against Chicago, Stafford immediately showed the potential the Rams might have unlocked.
Stafford passed for 321 yards and three touchdowns in one of the most prolific quarterback debuts with a new team in NFL history, leading the Rams past Andy Dalton and the Bears for a 34-14 victory on Sunday night.
Stafford found Jefferson for a 67-yard touchdown on his second pass for the Rams, who swung a blockbuster offseason trade to acquire the 13-year veteran from Detroit. Stafford then hit a wide-open Cooper Kupp for a 56-yard TD to open the third quarter, and he found Robert Woods for a clinching score with 3:17 to play.
The first regular season crowd at SoFi Stadium roared throughout the night for Stafford, who immediately looked comfortable in his new home.
Ive done everything I can to work as hard as I can and get myself in this team, and they’ve wrapped their arms around me, Stafford said. It felt good to go out there and play with them tonight. Such incredible players on this team. Im lucky to be a part of it. I want to do everything I can to try and lead this team where it wants to go.

Dalton Starting For Chicago
The Chicago Bears are going with veteran Andy Dalton at quarterback to begin the season, but he likely wont finish the season under center. Rookie Justin Fields is the future in Chicago, and he will give the offense a much better chance to score when he finally takes over.
On Sunday night, look for running back David Montgomery to get plenty of touches as the Bears will try to break through that tough Rams defense. This offense is not expected to score many points, and that is going to hold the Bears back all season.
Khalil Mack leads a defense that needs to be more dominant in 2020, but the pieces are in place to do just that. Chicago does have plenty of experience in dealing with Matthew Stafford.
Week 1 Recap: Chicago Bears Lose To The Los Angeles Rams 34
After months of Chicago Bears debate about Andy Dalton and Justin Fields, it was the most familiar quarterback on the field at SoFi Stadium who took over the Sunday night show.
Matthew Stafford played in 20 games against the Bears over 12 seasons with the NFC North rival Detroit Lions. In the season opener with his new team, the Los Angeles Rams, Stafford attacked the Bears with several big plays to lead a 34-14 victory.
After concerns in the preseason about Dalton barely moving the Bears offense while playing without several starters, the defensive breakdowns against Stafford were the most glaring issue Sunday.
Stafford threw a 67-yard touchdown pass to Van Jefferson on the Rams first drive. Safeties Tashaun Gipson and Eddie Jackson failed to touch Jefferson when he was down, and Jefferson popped back up to score.
After the Bears cut the Rams lead to 13-7 just before halftime, Stafford threw a 56-yard touchdown pass to Cooper Kupp on the opening drive of the third quarter. Kupp blew by nickel cornerback Marqui Christian into open field to score.
Stafford added a 37-yard pass to Tyler Higbee during the Rams third touchdown drive in the third quarter. He completed 20 of 26 passes for 321 yards and no interceptions. The Bears defense didnt force any turnovers, and the Rams put the game out of reach when Stafford threw his third touchdown pass, a 2-yarder to Robert Woods with 3 minutes, 17 seconds to play.

Monday Night Football: Cleveland Browns Vs Pittsburgh Steelers Prediction And Preview
Unlike the rebuilding Lions, Stafford joins a team that’s ready to win now, and for the Rams, that means not just getting to the Super Bowl, but winning it. And head coach Sean McVay can’t wait to get the man with 45,109 career passing yards, 282 career touchdown passes, and a 62.6 career completion rate on the field in his offense.
2. Don’t forget about the defenseBoth defenses are full of star-studded names, but the question is how many of them will actually play? Bears nose tackle Eddie Goldman was ruled out on Saturday due to a knee injury he suffered during Monday’s workout. Goldman opted out of last season due to the pandemic, and the Bears will be without his services for yet another game. On top of that, star pass rushers Khalil Mack and Robert Quinn are both questionable. Injuries limited their effectiveness last year.
Also questionable for the Bears are starting safeties Eddie Jackson and Tashaun Gipson Sr. , along with backup safety Deon Bush . The Bears can’t afford to be without any of these players. On the Rams’ side, defensive lineman A’Shawn Robinson has missed some practice time with a knee injury. Los Angeles is clearly the healthier team headed into the season opener, and that’s not a good thing for Chicago considering some of the studs on the Rams’ defense.
