The Art Of The Brick: Msis Newest Special Exhibit
In the first hall, visitors will find replicas of famous masterpieces such as Starry Night by Van Gogh, or Rodins The Thinker. The exhibits creator, Nathan Sawaya, also includes quite a few larger-than-life original pieces, ending with a 20-foot Tyrannosaurus Rex and a replica of Chicago Artist Hebru Brantleys Flyboy.
The second hall includes even more original and reimagined works, as well as a LEGO infused photography collection. We were very impressed to see beautiful photographs, where items were replaced with LEGO imagery. The attention to detail and creativity in each piece was truly remarkable.
Looking at all of these pieces certainly had us feeling inspired. Luckily, no trip to this exhibit would be complete without some time to play with LEGOs, too. The One Brick Studio invites families use LEGOs as a means to express their emotions. Families were asked to build something representing one of six different emotions, then have their family members guess which one they created.

When Is The Right Time To Personalize Your Customer Experience
Wed like to think the bronze doors are the front doors to the Museum but its actually the website. Steven Beasley
A couple years ago, the Museum of Science and Industry had a realization: Their website was their best opportunity to connect with and learn more about their guests. With that in mind, MSI relaunched their website and increased the percentage of ticket purchases made online from 15% to 50%+.
That means MSI now has a lot more contact data. More data means more work right?
Steven explains that nonprofit organizations have limited staff, so tools that let them do more are crucial. ActiveCampaign lets us be higher touch with the staff we have.
When you dont have to send 6 routine email campaigns, that frees up time to expand our strategy and personalization, Shawn says. We have time to understand who were talking to, so we can analyze them to learn what works and what doesnt.
When you understand your customers, you provide a better guest experience, so its important to get the ball rolling as soon as possible. As Shawn says: Our guests arent waiting for the right timeit IS the right time.
MSI has a large list ActiveCampaign lets us manage it, adds Shawn. With advanced search and automation I dont have to manually manage our list. I can focus on strategy.
I can create any automation I can think of. I like to dive in, so ActiveCampaigns flexibility from easy to complex has been very nice. Shawn Hackett
Underrated Exhibits To Check Out At The Chicago Museum Of Science Industry
With so many fascinating experiences and displays, its easy to overlook the less fancy exhibits but they hold just as much excitement.
Head to the lower level for the hidden joys of the Swiss Jolly Ball exhibit. At over seven feet high and 15 feet wide, this huge pinball machine features a large silver ball rolling through miniature Swiss ski lifts, smiling cows, and even a giant Toblerone bar. Declared the worlds largest flipper machine by Guinness World Records, the Swiss Jolly Ball puts on a lively show of movement and sound.
Make sure to carve out some time to see the 1890 safety bicycle that transformed cycling , as well as experimental model gliders designed by aviation pioneer and Wright Brother mentor, Octave Chanute .

Th Annual Christmas Around The World Exhibit Now Open At Museum Of Science And Industry
CHICAGO — The Christmas Around the World exhibit is back at the Museum of Science and Industry.
This year is a special one as it’s the 80th anniversary of the exhibit.
Christmas Around the World features more than 50 trees, representing different countries and cultures. The centerpiece is a four-story tall grand tree in the museum’s rotunda.
The display is open today through Jan. 8.
Chance the Rapper was there to celebrate the opening Wednesday, and share his love for the museum.
“My grandmother used to take me here. My best friend’s grandmother used to take me here, like going to see stuff in the Omnimax. I learned a lot of stuff here,” Chance said. “So the fact that, you know, my daughters have been growing up coming here the night at the museum has become like a family tradition of sorts.”
Chance and his nonprofit, Social Works, are hosting the fourth annual Night at the Museum on Dec. 16. Tickets cost $15 per person for a night of music, giveaways, and the MSI’s many exhibits both classic and new.
Tickets are available at SocialWorksChi.org.

Talk to anyone who has worked at the Museum of Science and Industry and youll hear the same story play out in 3 acts:
Everyone thinks the Museum of Science and Industry is an amazing place the version that exists in their mind, that is. They remember the Museum as it was the last time they visited, and they think that the Museum that exists today is exactly the same as it was back then.

Get Your Entire Family Into Your Favorite Chicago Attractions For Free On Specific Days This Winter
Do you love visiting museums? Do you love visiting museums for FREE? Weve put together our list of special days when we know Chicago museums offer free admission in January-March of 2022.
2022 looks a bit different for free museum days. Some popular museums have pushed pause temporarily on the free days practice and some arent open at all right now. As the year proceeds , hopefully more free days will return.
COVID-19 safety protocols are in place with some variation. Some venues may still require proof of vaccination for entry because of Chicagos Public Health Order No. 2021-2. Check all COVID-related protocols before your visit, including whether masks are required or recommended, whether timed entry reservations are required, whether coat checks are operating, or whether concessions are open or closed. Remember that Chicago may follow a different timeline than the state of Illinois for altering restrictions.
The days listed below are mostly free for Illinois residents. That means you must provide valid Illinois proof of residency a drivers license or state I.D. usually suffices.
Weve also included the average free day savings for a family of four so you can see how beneficial these are to your family budget. For many museums, the kid price applies to children 3-11, but sometimes its 13 and under. Always look at the fine print.
And finally, another option to save money on your Chicago visit avoid parking charges and take the train.
