Parking For Art Institute

The Art Institute of Chicago

I am planning on driving to visit the Art Institute tomorrow . I am a little shocked by the Millenium garage parking rates, which I thought might be one of the cheaper parking options. If I read correctly on the garage website it would be about $24.00 to park for 3 or 4 hours on a weekday.

I also checked the Art Institute website as I recall in the past they had an arrangement with a nearby garage for a little discount on parking, but I could not find anything current.

Does anyone know of a more affordable parking option near the Art Institute?

Our other option is to park out of downtown, like maybe Fullerton near the L and take the L in. I am familiar enough to be comfortable doing that, but I believe there is now also restricted parking, permit required, etc. for many residential neighborhoods.

Of course we could always take Amtrak from Milwaukee too, but we most likely won’t.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I tried to do a search on this forum for downtown parking, but most of the questions seem to be asking about alternatives for overnight parking at hotels.
