The Lounge Absolutely Underwhelming
Ordinarily, if youre flying in One World business class, youd be able to access the British Airways business class lounge in the international terminal , but it was closed. The only thing open was Air France/KLM lounge and it was depressing. The food was sad. The drinks were sad. Everyone sitting in it looked sad. So we left and headed to wait at the gate.

Doha Airport Transit Hotel:
When looking into Doha airport hotels, we discovered that Doha doesnt really have any such accommodation , with free shuttles to and from the airport .
The one exception is the transit hotel right in the airport, the Oryx Airport Hotel .

When we previously flew on Emirates from North America to Africa, we stayed overnight at the Dubai airport transit hotel a great stay!
But unlike the Dubai transit hotel , the Doha airport transit hotel was coming in at over $325 USD a night.
While this would have been the most convenient option, we crossed it off our list.

After familiarizing myself with the seat I sat down and strapped in for the 13.5 hour flight to Chicago. A few moments later the flight attendant stopped by my seat to drop off a Brics amenity kit. Flight attendants handed men a navy blue kit while women received a bright yellow kit.
Inside the amenity kit were a few items designed to make the flight more enjoyable. There was a pair of in-flight socks, a Qatar Airways branded eye mask, and a pair of ear plugs. There were also assorted beauty products from Monte Vibiano which included lip balm, city cream, and a facial mist.
While distributing the amenity kits the flight attendant also took pre-departure beverage orders. I requested a glass of the Lanson Brut Rosé champagne and a hot towel which arrived a few moments later.
When the flight attendant returned to retrieve my empty champagne glass and towel she also distributed a pair of Qatar Airways branded pajamas.
A few minutes later the flight attendants took their seats and we began our takeoff roll. After a somewhat long takeoff roll we were climbing out of Doha and heading west for Chicago.

Qr 725 Doha Hamad Airport To Chicago Ohare Airport
After being welcomed by the crew, Ive headed to my seat 16K which is located in the first row of the Economy cabin.
Here is the legroom for the seat which is quite generous.
This aircraft was fitted the newer version of the Thales IFE system which I think is the best IFE equipment within the Qatar Airways fleet.
There is also a USB port under the monitor, plus a power port under the seat.
The IFE system also features a touchscreen remote.

While I was exploring the IFE system, boarding was completed, and at that time I spotted our neighbor which was another QR A350-1000 but heading to Los Angeles.
Shortly later, aircraft doors were closed and the cabin crew distributed refreshing towels

To start our taxi, we have waited this A350 to finish its pushback process
This aircraft was going to head to Amsterdam.
Shortly later, I have realized that a Boeing 777-300ER was being pushed back as well. At this time in the morning, there are lot of QR flights to Europe and North America departing at closer times.

For many flights from Los Angeles to Doha, Qatar uses Boeing 777-300ER planes.
Until recently, Qatar Airways 777s were configured with just 9 seats across in Economy 3 seats on either side of the aisles and 3 seats in the middle. The seats were 18.2 inches wide and gave passengers 33 inches of seat pitch .
That has unfortunately changed on many routes.
Between L.A. and Doha, seats on our flights were configured 3-4-3 in Economy Class. They were 17 inches wide and offered 32 inches of leg room.
Our flight from L.A. was not full, however .
We lucked out with an empty middle seat between us, sharing 3 seats on one side of the airplane. That made the almost 16-hour flight to Doha fairly comfortable .
From Doha to Colombo , Qatar uses the A340-600.
The seats are configured 2-4-2. They were narrower, with less legroom, than seats on the Boeing 777-300ER planes between L.A. and Doha.
The flight from Doha to Colombo was also full, so it wasnt as comfortable either.
