Jischke Drive / Wiley Update: Urgentwiley Pickup Location Changed To Co

Due to the addition of a bike lane on Martin Jischke Drive, we have been informed by the Purdue Department of Parking and Transportation that we can no longer pick up anywhere on Jischke Drive therefore our Wiley pickup location is changing to the Co-Rec circle driveeffective immediately.

Passengers should watch for the shuttle at the circle drive west of the Co-Rec and north of the Aquatics Center . We will attempt to stop at the south-west edge of the circle, as long as there is room. During inclement weather, passengers should be able to wait in the Co-Rec while also having a clear view of the pickup location on the circle drive.

Driving Directions From The North

West Lafayette is approximately 140 miles southeast of Chicago. Take I-65 South to State Road 43 .

Turn right onto State Road 43. Drive south to State Street State Street intersects State Road 43 at the 4th stoplight, after you take the exit. Turn right onto State Street. Remain in the right lane. Proceed up the hill on State Street to Grant Street Turn right onto Grant Street. The Purdue Memorial Union will be on your left and the Grant Street Parking Garage will be on your right.

Driving Directions From The South

West Lafayette is approximately 70 miles northwest of Indianapolis. Take I-65 North to Lafayette and exit onto State Road 26 . Turn left at the stoplight. Remain on State Road 26 approximately 5 miles. State Road 26 follows South Street in Lafayette until you approach the downtown area. State Road 26 then follows Columbia Street across the Wabash River.

Once you cross the Wabash River, State Road 26 becomes State Street in West Lafayette. Continue State Street up the hill to Grant Street. Turn right onto Grant Street. Purdue Memorial Union will be on your left, and the Grant Street Parking Garage will be on your right.

I’m a freshman and will be reaching Chicago on 6th. The shuttle services are either booked or hours after I arrive. Is Uber a good option? Is there any convenient way I can do this journey?

I’ll be honest, I didn’t prep when I came here either. I had to take an uber from O’Hare to Purdue.

It cost me $120.

So no, either get a shuttle from O’Hare to campus, or take the Amtrack.

Edit: $120 was the cheapest uber I could find. My luggage barely fit in.

Holy smokes that is so much cheaper than I would have expected tbh. Ubers from midtown Manhattan to Newark sometimes costs that much.

Just as a note, Uber pricing is highly variable. I’ve seen people pay $250+ for a shuttle to campus from O’Hare.

Look at EAC shuttle or reindeer shuttle. They are about 50-60 bucks each way. Book them online. Uber is really expensive and not a great way to go.

Definitely the shuttle and absolutely book! That way they will hold a spot for you right up until the end. Sometimes the shuttles can get really full near the beginning of the semester. The bus will stop either at the union itself on campus or a couple of locations around town.

Honestly if you can book a shuttle with a decent price at the expense of having a few hours to spare then just do it. Happened last time and I just walked around for a few hours

In some instances including peak travel times, the four local companies will be unable to accommodate requested transportation needs. Departments should then seek additional service providers, obtain quotes and company insurance coverage that meets the requirements listed below, and follow the remaining steps provided at the top of the page.

Vendors will need to provide proof of insurance via a Certificate of Insurance that names The Trustees of Purdue University and Purdue University as additional insured parties for the following amounts:

• General Liability: $1,000,000 per occurrence/$2,000,000 aggregate
• Auto Liability: $5,000,000 combined single limit for vans/shuttle buses up to 25 passengers
• $10,000,000 combined single limit for buses larger than 25 passengers

Insurance limits may be met through a combination of primary and excess/umbrella policies. Charter company insurance should be primary and non-contributory to any insurance maintained by Purdue.
