Chicago And 4th July Weekend

2 dead, 6 injured in Chicago shootings as Fourth of July weekend gets underway

My husband and I have arranged our first visit to Chicago. We will be there for the 4th July weekend. What happens? Any recommendations on what to do, where to go? Also, we would like to watch a baseball game – would there be tickets available if we waited until we arrived and bought them directly from the stadium?

www.explorechicago.org is a good site to do some research. The Chicago Tourism link at the upper left corner of this page has a lot of information.

Fireworks here are on the 3rd. Also consider Taste of Chicago

The Cubs are in town that weekend – – Getting two tickets on the day of the game “might” be doable.

there wont be any tickets available from wrigley, try stubhub.com

you can watch the fireworks and maybe go to the beach

people that live here usually spend the day with family and friends at a bbq

the taste of chicago will also be going on

there are some ok seats available right now from the cubs website for the 1st and the 4th

nothing good for the 2nd or 3rd

Jan. 27 — The annual July 3rd fireworks in Chicago’s Grant Park will be replaced by three separate displays on July 4th, Mayor Richard M. Daley’s office said.

Remember?

Many suburbs limit how early you can set up your blanket or lawn chairs in the park, so be sure to check the event website before plunking down your gear. Also, if you have little kids or a child who is sensitive to loud noises, consider camping out at a quieter location slightly farther away from the launch site. Keep in mind that many families are still COVID-cautious, so keep a social distance whenever possible, especially if you might be at the park waiting for a while.
