Union League Club Wedding Tricia And John
ZR Weddings
Tricia and John, where to start? Individually they were each such a pleasure to be around. Together, they were an unstoppable duo! Their radiant love for one another was clear from the moment we met. Their wedding was the fourth in four yearsTricias was the last of four sistersand what an epic finale it was!
John and his groomsmen began their day at his familys home. They spent their morning relaxing, playing some light basketball, enjoying lunch, and of course getting ready for the day ahead of them. Meanwhile, the ladies gathered at Tricias family home to enjoy each others company while starting the glam process! Make Up by Rosie painted their faces to perfection, while Felipe Salon sculpted each gorgeous hair-do.

Kara & Jens’ Union League Club Wedding
What an incredible start to wedding season! Kara and Jens were blessed with the brightest, sunniest, Chicago spring day. Of course, in true Chicago fashion, it was really only about 35 degrees and windy. Hopefully you cant tell! Kara is currently writing her first novel, so I thought it was fitting that their first look took place in the library of the Union League Club surrounded by books. When I met Kara and Jens to discuss their vision for their wedding, they told me they were especially looking for documentary photos that captured beautiful moments between them, as well as photos that incorporated the classic architectural aspects of Chicago and their venue. We made stops for wedding photos at The Art Institute of Chicago, the Wrigley Building on Michigan Avenue, and I was blown away by the beauty of Covenant Presbyterian, where their ceremony took place. Of course, the Union League Club of Chicago did not disappoint when I saw the ballroom decked out with the incomparable floral work of Fleur. Some of my favorite photos of their day were taken during the first dance, but really, I had the hardest time narrowing down favorites as I love them all!

Union League Club Wedding Chicagodayna + Jonathan
Where do I even start? This entire day was so dreamy! I loved getting to work with Dayna and Jonathan for their wedding day in downtown Chicago at Holy Name Cathedral and The Union League Club. I first met Jonathan when photographing his sisters wedding 3 years ago. When I met Dayna once she and Jonathan were engaged, I knew we were a great fit for one another! We had an amazing engagement session together at Cantigny a few months later. As the wedding day drew closer, I knew that with Chi Chic Weddings & Events, Zuzus Petals, MaryMonica Music, and more as a part of their vendor team, ot was going to be beautiful and an absolute blast for everyone involved.
As I arrived to the Union League Club that morning, I was greeted with hugs from family members I knew from the Datskos-Cottrell wedding 3 years ago which totally made my day. I also saw the beautiful invitations that were created by Magnificent Milestones. The invites had colorful, yet subtle tones of hunter green, gold, and white on the envelope liner, which I absolutely adored. Just wait till you see it for yourself below! It worked perfectly with the gold tones in the church as well as the navy and gold accents in the Union League Clubs ballroom. After Dayna put on her wedding gown, she chose to have a first look with her bridesmaids and her father. I love this new tradition! The bridesmaids wore different styles of hunter green dresses while the groomsmen wore classic black tuxes.

We didn’t use the athletic facilities.. but stayed for a few nights for a wedding on premises…the place felt historic with grand wood features and marble. the rooms were on the smaller side – but we didn’t care.. they were very quiet .. the bathrooms were renovated with a nice walk in shower..we felt privileged to be there..

The Union League Club is a wonderful throw back to a more elegant age. It is open to members of all genders, ethnicities, etc. It was one of the first private clubs to allow women members. But that was all in the past. The rooms are old, limiting size , but they have all been redecorated and are very nicely appointed. The treat is the access to the club’s amenities. The restaurant is 5 star and the bar elegant and very comfortable. Not a bar scene, that type of behavior is not acceptable at a private club, a lady can enjoy a glass of wine alone without a care. An excellent place to stay.
