Hi All,
My 79 yr old mother and her friend are flying into Midway in May. They need to catch a bus to Madison WI. Their flight comes in at 8:30am. What would be the closest bus station for them? I checked into Greyhound and they go to Madison leaving at either 11:30 or noon. What would be the best way to get to the bus station, taxi or the L? My mother is in good shape so getting around shouldn’t be a problem. Thanks

Leaving directly from the airport to Madison is probably the best way for them to go. I checked the fares and they seem reasonable.

If you want to design your own rail adventure to Branson, start by booking a ticket on one of Amtraks nearby routes: the Southwest Chief or the Texas Eagle. Taking The Bus Up To Madison From Chicago Amtrack
Wondering if anyone has done this, and if so, would love to hear comments. I also am curious where it “drops off” in Madison, and how to get to my hotel from the bus stop. Staying at Fairfield Inn East in Madison. Traveling with an elderly person and wanted this to go smooth if possible.

The bus also drops off people at the DutchMill Parking lot which is the first exit off of the beltline from Interstate 90. It is closer to get to the east side of Madison from this DutchMill parking lot than from downtown Madison.
I highly recommend this Coach USA/Van Galder Bus Lines. My husband frequently takes their service from to O’Hare and it is always clean, well maintained and the drivers are competent.
If you are on the Megabus or Greyhound, they both stop at a truckstop north of Madison on US Hwy 51, and from there, you can get a cab to the Fairfield Inn. Are you coming soon? If it’s really cold, you can have a coffee or tea in the restaurant at the truck stop and watch out the window for your cab.

Van Galder Bus Company Suspends All Service Due To Coronavirus Outbreak
A Wisconsin bus company is suspending all operations because of the coronavirus crisis. Van Galder Bus Company is headquartered in Janesville. They made the announcement on their Facebook page on Tuesday.
Thursday, April 2 will be the last day the company will have their routes in service. Starting Friday April 3, those services will be temporarily suspended.
Van Galder runs a fleet of coach buses that often travel to and from Madison. They also makes stops in Rockford and South Beloit. Van Galder is also popular for riders looking to get to OHare Airport in Chicago.
Van Galder has been in business since 1947 and to their knowledge, this is the first time they have ever had to temporarily cease operations.
The company says they hope to be back up and running on May 1st. For updates, the company advises riders to check their website and Facebook page.

If your drop off bus stop is the Chicago OHare Airport, when you board the bus, let the driver know which terminal you are going to.
- Your shuttle bus stop will be at either Terminal 1, 2, 3 or 5. We will drop passengers off on the upper level for easier access to your flight.
- For passengers catching a train into the city or connecting to other ground transportation, the shuttle bus stop we recommend is terminal 2. Go inside and follow the signs.
- If youre flight is international, your shuttle bus stop with be at Terminal 5.
For passengers boarding at the Chicago OHare Airport, the Terminal 5, shuttle bus stop will be located on the lower level .. The airport shuttle buses load outside door number 5E. Walk across the crosswalk to the outer curb and turn to your right. You will see a bus shelter along the outer curb. The buses will pull up as space allows along this curb past this shelter.
For all other terminals, follow directions to the Bus Shuttle Center. Our shuttle bus stop can easily be found by exiting through door 4 of the Bus Shuttle Center.
Midway Airport NOTE MIDWAY SERVICE HAS BEEN SUSPENDED MARCH 17, 2020Similar to the OHare Airport, the drop off bus stop will be located on the upper level where departures are located.
