The concern on Voights face in this scene is two-fold. For one, hes concerned about Uptons state of mind with regards to her police work. For another, her increasingly fragile state might lead her to spill the details of what happened to Roy in the season 8 finale.
The climax of In the Dark takes place without Uptons involvement, ironically. Voight spills the details to Halstead, who proceeds to blame him for whats happened to Upton. The two part ways in a rush, and Halstead returns him to an exhausted Upton. They share an intense gaze, but nothing is said.
