The deep dish pizza was amazing. Thank you so much for everything during our visit. Called ahead and our table was waiting. Yall are the best!

Italian beef with au jus was perfect, so Herod we went back twice last week. This week we went back & had the pizza. It was fantastic. This is great for Chicago style items like Chicago beef & pizza. The decor could use a little…updating or something to give it some pizzaz. If you come here for the good food, I highly recommend it.More

Pizza and service was great! This is actually Chicago deep dish a s takes 45 min to cook. Only thing that would make this place better is draft deer. Highly recommend and will be back!

It’s really hard to find Chicago style pizza in Texas. When I do find them I seem to see comments about them being really expensive. I don’t think they are. Traditional pizza’s are 1/4″ to 1/2″ thick. Chicago can be 2-3 inches thick with the…crust included. Do you know how many traditional pizzas you have to stack on top of one another to get one Chicago. Suddenly the price comparison is the same if not better.I loved this pizza. We ordered three smalls for well over $100. We have been eating it for a week straight. One slice is all we can handle. The cheese is so ooey gooey. The toppings are fresh and flavorful.Thank you for being here and offering something different.More

Heres a look back at the top stories for Elmwood Park in 2021, documenting the triumphs and small victories the community has experienced throughout the past year.

Elmwood Park Railroad Underpass Moves Ahead

A long-anticipated project to dig an underpass beneath the Metra tracks that intersect West Grand Avenue in Elmwood Park received key funding from the Illinois Commerce Commission in December.

The commission designated $3.1 million from Gov. J.B. Pritzkers Rebuild Illinois capital bill to help fund engineering work on the $121 million plan.

The work will impact Metras North Central Service line to Antioch and the Milwaukee District West line to Elgin, which both traverse through Elmwood Park. Progress on the underpass is welcomed after federal officials have highlighted the Grand Avenue rail intersection as being inherently dangerous, in part because the crossing requires vehicles to move across 179 feet of train tracks.

The intersection was previously the site of a dangerous crash in 2005, when a Metra train traveling 70 mph struck six vehicles, according to the Chicago Tribune. While no deaths occurred, 16 people were injured and related collisions damaged 11 cars.

Where Culinary Arts Cocktails And Creativity Collide

Taste of Hope brings award-winning chefs and Chicago foodies together to celebrate the American Cancer Society’s progress in the fight against cancer.

This year the event will be held on November 4, 2021. Taste of Hope has always featured our wonderful Chicagoland restaurants and this year is no different.

Now in its eighth year, the event is hosted annually by the American Cancer Societys Taste of Hope Executive Leadership Council and has raised over $2,300,000 to support the American Cancer Societys mission and goal of eliminating cancer as a major health problem.

While enjoying the best of Chicago’s culinary scene, we raise our glasses to:

  • Leading the fight for a world without cancer.

  • Preventing 2.9 million cancer deaths since 1991.

  • Promoting healthy lifestyles including eating right and staying active.

But even as we celebrate a 29% decline in cancer death rates, we know there is more left to do. One in two men and one in three women will get cancer in their lifetime. Simply put, the cancer fight still needs you.

Elmwood Park Prepares For School Rehab

Elmwood Park Community Unit School District 401 began receiving construction bids during the first week of November for its $55 million rehabilitation project for John Mills Elementary School and Elmwood Park Elementary School.

The district had hosted open houses at the two schools, where residents could view plans for the renovated schools. The planned work is expected to take place during two years and three summers of construction, said James Jennings, assistant superintendent for business, finance and operations with the district.

Theres going to be some growing pains, Jennings said. In the long run its worth it but parts of it are going to be inconvenient.

Some Events Just Had To Be Canceled

Many events that have been canceled had been held for decades without interruption before 2020 and traditionally attract tens of thousands of attendees. In addition to Arlington Heights Frontier Days, Lisles Eyes to the Skies Festival, and tastes of Oak Brook, Park Ridge and Wheaton, Schaumburg called off its Prairie Arts Festival, and West Chicago wont hold its Blooming Fest or Railroad Days.

The DuPage County Fair, originally set July 21-25, was canceled for the second consecutive year, though officials say they could hold a similar type of event in the fall. In a letter posted on the DuPage County Fair website, CEO of the DuPage County Fair Association Jim McGuire said the county is using fairgrounds in Wheaton as a mass coronavirus vaccination site after initially using it as a COVID-19 testing site.

Jason Braglia, New Lenox Community Park Districts deputy director of recreation, said officials were unsure when large gatherings would be allowed, as well as what tangent COVID-19 cases might take in the coming months. New Lenoxs Proud American Days was also scratched.

We are erring on the side of caution in canceling, he said.

Daniel Jordan, a 32-year-old live music lover from Chicago now living in DeKalb, said hed love to go to shows this year, but only if its safe. He most wants to attend Milwaukees Summerfest, which is scheduled to be held this September, but also looks forward to returning to small music venues.

Develop A Plan Of Attack

Review all the restaurants ahead of time and decide where you want to go. You can pick up a map when you buy tickets and take a look. I skip all the usual suspects that I can eat anytime like wings, pizza, hot dogs, and restaurants I can eat at anytime. I hit the good restaurants that are located in areas of the city that I rarely or never venture in to.

Triton Aids Local Vaccine Rollout

In early February, Triton College in River Grove became a Cook County Health COVID-19 vaccination distribution site.

At that time, the site was expected to dole out 600 shots per day, or about 3,600 vaccines per week when operating at capacity, according to Iliana Mora, Chief Operating Officer for the Cook County Health system. The college had offered 8,000 square feet of space in one of its departmental buildings to be used by the health department.

The River Grove community college served as a useful location because of its accessibility and the fact the site could serve members of the community and neighboring areas where case counts were high, Mora said in February. Illinois National Guard members were on site to help register vaccine recipients and administer doses.
